Fred's Choice
Fred reflected on the nature of power and love. This reflection was focused on the man she was holding, and who was embracing her as well. He had stopped shuddering after a while, it was as if he was the one who had been brought back from the brink of death. He was content to simply stay like this, to take in as much of her as he could, her warmth and life. To give himself the certainty that she was alive and whole. She was not ready to move away.
So power and love, Fred knew Wesley loved her, she had seen it was more than love. Wesley himself would be hard-pressed to label what he felt for her. She considered that he worshiped her, but after hearing Illyria refer to herself as a god, Fred wanted to avoid that word, even if it was true. She thought about the power she held over him. It was quite the responsibility, she could easily shatter him if she wanted, if she chose to blame him for the current situation, she could turn him into a form of the man he had become after she died. He wouldn't grieve, but he would revert back to who he was during his exile after he took Connor. Alone, existing to do what was right and not that much more.
Her other option was to forgive him, for past mistakes and his most recent one. She speculated she would turn him into someone entirely different. She remembered back to their time under Jasmine's thrall, how they had all seemed untouchable, even against the worst demons. Compared to Angel, Spike, or what she remembered of Connor, Wesley was a fair fighter. But in the company of Jasmine, he, along with the rest, became exceptional in every way. She hypothesized that, with his love returned in kind, he could be like that again, without the flaws that were inherent in Jasmine's form of blinded worship.
Is there anything else Fred should consider?
