Question What did you guys think when you saw Dawn for the first time?

Me too, I've seen S7 first then later the early seasons.
S7 didn't mention much of Dawn 's creation.
So I was more like "When will Dawn, Buffy's sister appear? Buffy isn't the only Joyce's child!" seeing the early seasons.

I remember thinking that something was amiss (magic being involved) and that they would obviously explain it at some point.
Am I the only one that didn’t think this at all and thought she was always there but I never realized because we didn’t see her until now? Lol

Sometimes that happens in shows where they mention characters but they don’t start appearing until later

I thought your first thought would have been 'man, her beauty is going to be distracting'
Yes, I remember how you trolled me on that old thread. I was new here....but that didn't stop you. What a meanie. 😋

Edit: Not that I'm holding any grudges or anything, but this Post in thread 'Michelle Tractenberg: Did her beauty distract you sometimes?' Michelle Tractenberg: Did her beauty distract you sometimes? is the post that I was referring to. One of them, anyway. 😉

Since when is stating a fact trolling. Grown ass man shouldn't find a teen beautiful.
When I first saw Dawn I probably thought 'they better have a good explanation for this...'.

Did anyone think it could have been slang for friend?
Like your my sister. And they say it to their friends. Someone might have misinterpreted it as that and thought Dawn was a new friend.

I think the context was clear, including both Buffy and Dawn yelling, "MOM!"

Glad I bought the dvds and didn't have to wait a week to see what that was about.

What were your experiences when you first watched the episode and saw Dawn for the first time?
I remember being very confused. I thought I had missed an episode. I went back and checked and I hadn't. I knew something was up right away, but basically just figured it would be explained in time.

I thought Gellar and MT had really good sibling chemistry. apparently friends in real life. her death is so tragic. she really was a great character unfairly maligned. when she first appeared it seemed weirdly comforting. i think buffy as an only child made sense in a way but it was cool to give her that dynamic.

Yes confusion is the word. Completely went OMG what the????
Totally lost in the beginning.

Seriously, I think I once found a Buffy Encyclopedia from the 20th Anniversary, listing the Monks as sworn protectors of the Key, and the Knights as sworn to destroy the key. That's the type of detail you are paying for. That's Pottermore level World building right there.

How I wish I had knowledge of my future back then as maybe I'd have been under the belief that I should have had my eyes checked up.
