Chapter One
Smoke curdled around the brunette's head in sullied halo; it was an emblem of much more significance then imaginable. A single cigarette was pulled up to her lips as she drug in the toxic air, letting out smoke in another rush of air. The movements were lazily sexual, and Ethan couldn't help but gulp as Faith once again brought the cancer- stick to her plush lips. This time, instead of puffing, her lips curved into a feline grin around it. "Like what you see, Ethan?" She discarded the cigarette onto the ground, the red sizzle fading into the dark. "I hope I like what I see." Her voice was a sensual purr, the lilting tone of a dark, earthy goddess.
Bloody hell, woman, stop it! Now!
Her movements were slow and slinking, hips methodically shifting underneath the taut leather pants. As Faith neared Ethan, she slowed, her chest heaving underneath the intricately cut bodice. "Show me," her voice hardened into metal, slicing through Ethan's defenses like a knife through bread. Faith's hands played along his collar, and her fingers curled into a fist around it, tugging him closer. His face was an inch away from hers as she growled angrily. "Show me"¦ now." It was a demand, a demand to be eagerly followed. When he was released, he let out a hiss of both disappointment and relief.
"Yes, yes of course Faith. Follow me," he replied curtly, strangely at loss for his usually amusing and sarcastic remarks he saved for various rainy days. "The ritual is almost completely prepared- I just need a few more supplies and then- the Slayer." He drew a shaky breath and discreetly swiped his clammy hands through his hair. Shouldn't let this twit effect me this much. She's just a bloody girl! "The plan is full-proof- nothing can go wrong." The words were accompanied with a self assured smile, the typical Ethan Rayne "believe me" expression.
"Ah, right. Lead the way- and fast," Faith ordered, her kohl rimmed eyes boring into his. "Somewhere to go after." Ethan's response was a swift nod, and the two were off.
Ethan's pace was hurried, trying to keep himself before the slayer in pace. Despite that, she kept his stride with ease, as tears of sweat beaded his forehead. Soon, Ethan paused underneath the willowy shadow of an oak. "Here," he ordered, his voice hoarse from strain. He raised his arms in the air, leaves swirling as his lips numbly moved in a chant.
Caught off guard, Faith quickly tried latching herself onto the tree as the two swirled into nothingness, and all that was left was the crushed leaved and the murky oak tree.
Minutes later"¦
"Are you okay, Faith?" Ethan worriedly called, his voice echoing chillingly. He shivered, tugging the corduroy jacket tighter around his torso. "Faith?" he repeated, fruitlessly attempting to straighten his tousled hair.
"Five by five, Ethan," Faith replied hoarsely. While his voice was chilling, hers had turned into a haunting melody of death. "Where are we?" She brushed off the hand he offered with a glare, and her nimble fingers deftly brushed off the dirt that had sullied the leather.
His smle pleasurable, Ethan replied with smug certainty. "Aurotheopia."
