Would Angel Be Darker?

If Angel, the show, was made today, would it have been a darker show than it was?
 
I would agree that it would probably be darker, and going by some more recent shows, likely have had a much greater turnover in characters due to character death (although few shows beat The 100 for that).

Given that almost all of the main and supporting characters died in Angel, that's not really much different!

Well, there is that! 😀 Though it was S5 in Angel that caused the most destruction. The 100 would usually kill off at least one major cast member a season, as well as various notable supporting cast, then, every now and then, for the fun of it kill off just about everyone.
 
Eh, it was pretty dark as is. The Darkest arc was Connor's story, I don't know how you get darker than that. Angel literally shot a man with a shotgun blast to the head in the name of mercy. I mean, you could add dead blondes and winos and mumbling to yourself while punching a bag, but still pretty dark as is.

 
I think so, yes. And depending on where it aired, would also be more violent (along with the grittier tone of the series overall).

Could say the same for BTVS, but probably not as drastic.

I think the Angelus flashbacks could definitely be darker, really showing why he was the worst.

True; darker does not necessarily mean better. Season 6 proved that.
 
Re: Angelus; I suppose. Which now begs the question, what was the darkest vamp kill, and how much brutality should vamps display?
 
Never liked Angel b.c. his character on Buffy was my absolute least favourite. He was such an arrogant character and didn't have Spike's fantastic humour.

Thankfully, I don't choose favorites by which character resembles the Fonz. I'll take dramatic, serious leads any day. His self-doubt and self-loathing are opposites of arrogance. I don't see how this post contributes to the topic. Have you seen AtS?

i don't really feel the need to respond to inflammatory comments except to say this: can you not handle other people's opinions not exactly mirroring your own? have a great day!
 
It could easily have been made to be darker, not necessarily more violent just more interesting to watch. Discovering in a morgue that the body has vampire teeth could have added a whole new side to the tale of a little blonde girl walking in an alley. Heck, Spike could have become a more pro-active sort of vampire.
