I finally made a connection between Buffy and someone I know. In the Whedonverse, the last part of a long name is used, so we get Xander instead of Alex and Topher is used for the short form of Christopher. I have a friend in the dance circuit called Stasia. I wondered if she was connected to the Stasi, the East German secret police, where Vladimir Putin once worked. But no, her name is Anastasia, so that settles that.
 
Power was out all day today. Went walkies this morning then went out. I brought some pretty pink flowers, duno how long they will last but Im hoping they have flowers for a little while to enjoy. Its starting to get green again everywhere and it just puts a mind at ease to see more than brown plants and black sand.

Got maccas on the way home but ordered the wrong thing so the poodle was unimpressed that I did not bring home nuggets for her 🙁 Was out in the garden, planting my pink flowers and playing with the pond until the power came back on 😀

Now in my usual spot, in front of the tv waiting for Survivor, fat from food with dogs on top of me.
 
It was a big mistake taking the truck out (for the second time) yesterday. Something told me to drive up to the dispensary to stock up on gummies. It was hot outside, and the truck tends to get weird in that kinda weather. Anywho, got up there fine....but on the way back? Holy shit. I smelled the transmission fluid and oil burning...then the truck started to jerk and smoke. Good thing I avoided the main streets! Flipped on the hazards and drove VERY slowly home. I ignored all the honking, they could go around me!

In retrospect, it's a good thing I did go. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have known the truck was worse off than I thought. Also, I got enough gummies to last awhile. 😁

Argh. Not a great day, one of those push through days that I am now paying for. Did the vacuuming this morning, then went out to the horses. The empty paddock is getting green, but its all green weeds, not green feed. Mowed the lawn when I got in and took the dogs for a late walk together. I felt a headache brewing. Then the dogs wanted a nap in my bed but laying down hurt my head more so that didnt last. Spent the afternoon messing with the pond again, still a lot more work to do on that. The new pump seems too strong and stresses out the fish.

Asprin failed me, paracetamol is so far, failing me. Sitting here with a washcloth around my neck in a summer dress cos its so freaking hot! There is a storm nearby, hail and all but not close enough to break the sky here. Its dark now so the temp should drop fast soon, all the house is open so I catch the cool when it does come. The dogs seem to know my head hurts because they are being quiet and gentle with me, Im so glad I have dogs and not children. I would not be able to speak this post out loud but typing is fine!
 
I'm undecided on whether or not I should try driving my truck today. (I mean, it's had a bit of a rest!) IF I drive it, I'll make sure to leave while it's cool outside. Just a little spin around the block. And I won't blast music while I'm driving so I can listen to the engine. Forewarned is forearmed.

In other news, I've ordered a new bra and a delightfully pagan t-shirt. Hope they fit properly, I hate returning stuff to Amazon.
 
Someday I will look back on today as a comedy, and at least I was luckier than a neighbour at the corner of the street. I couldn't sleep last night and I heard a loud crash from outside at exactly 3:34 AM. This sounded like it was coming from far away.

In the morning, I had to get a new battery for the Miata and it had to be an adsorbed glass mat design with vents. Fortunately, my girlfriend came around to help me get places in her car. The Miata battery is mounted in the trunk, so the charging reaction gives off hydrogen - not a problem in the engine compartment where most batteries live but it is crucial to connect vent lines in the trunk. I went to the first place but what they had was a battery with flat oval vents that did not fit. It also had a two-year warranty that had started in June 2024, so half the warranty was gone and the price was $186.13. I went to another place that had the exact match but the price of $210.99 and with taxes came out to $230, or $10 per pound. I got the second one and installed it. After a couple of hours, I came out to set the radio station presets and there was nothing - less than six volts. I had left the headlights on. Fortunately, I have a charger that brought it up to a state where it could start and I gave it a run of several miles just to ensure it stayed charged and everything seems to be OK now. I checked the dark current (the current that keeps the radio presets and the engine computer stored parameters alive and it was 13 milliamps, definitely reasonable.

Then our next door neighbour came over and said that a car in the driveway at the house on the corner of the street had exploded and burned. Police, firefighters and the fire marshal were there trying to determine if this was a malfunction or deliberate action on someone's part.
 
I finally got the haircut I have been needing for months! I did have a go again last night at straightening my hair, given that it was 4"+ in length in places and when uncurled at the back reached to my shoulders. This confirmed that I am no good with straighteners and the only way I will end up with straight hair is if someone does it for me. Or if I wear a wig. 😀 Which my hair is now short enough to cope with quite easily.
 
The comedy continues with the Miata. It started up perfectly today with plenty of voltage then half way up Highway 410, the voltmeter dipped to 11.9 for about a mile then popped right back up. The engine had a strange feel to it, like something was rough in a bearing and now it made perfect sense. The alternator bearings were going out. I had replaced the alternator once before and that one had been amazingly rough. The weather has been below freezing, so I will wait a few days to get that taken care of. Besides, my girlfriend is picking me up tomorrow so we can go to Lago's for the Wednesday night dance.
 
Drove to a nearby market despite the hot weather. It's only a few blocks away, so no issues with the truck. However, I received a sunburn just walking from the parking lot into the market. And I was sweating like a pig, so I looked absolutely adorable while I was shopping.

For the last few weeks, I've been keeping all of my windows shut (except for early morning 4am - 9am). I finally realised that by doing so, it stays cool inside, plus I have blessed privacy.

The funny thing is, my neighbours are now suspicious. Whenever I see them outside, they'll generally ask things like, "Are you okay?" or, "Is everything alright?" No, they don't care about my well-being. They're probably wondering if I'm sacrificing animals or something. 😄

I had a good day today. I dropped of some discards to the habitat recycle place and the when to wood carving for the afternoon. Nice sunny cool weather today.
 
I have to wash my hair. Im trying to regain my standing energy haha. Just been out to feed the horses and there is quite a warm breeze, so my hair should dry quick if I get it washed early enough! The big chestnut mumma mare was mad at me for not bringing her carrots or apples today. She dragged her teeth along my glove telling me off for not having an offering for her haha. The little black mare and her tiny black foal are both for sale, $2000 for both. Tell him he's dreamin'! He'd be lucky to get that much for them. The mumma does not like being a mother. The foal is super cute but super little and might be better suited for pony trots than harness racing! I'd grab her in a heartbeat if she was free, such a nice little temperament on her, but still nowhere to put a pony 🙁

The fish do NOT like the new fountain and its just murkied the water up. I am turning it off until I build the waterfall. The biological filter is enough. I cant get started on that until next week. I have a busy weekend ahead. So I better go wash my hair ugh.
 
Too freaking hot and I needed another doctor visit. Wasn't going to take the truck, thought I'd take the bus or Lyft. But the PRICE to go three miles with Lyft was outrageous! Also ruled out the bus...didn't want another sun burn. Ended up driving. (I have AAA so that's a plus, just in case) My truck didn't enjoy it, he made that loud and clear. But we made it!! 🥳
 
The more time I spend around other people, the more I rekon I cannot live with another person in my house ever again. Im a bit stressed out because people are getting silly with christmas and easter invitations. There is a reason I am not with my family. And a reason I avoid all holidays. But people cant seem to get it through their thick heads that I'd really prefer to be alone and not surrounded by people. I prefer my people online, where I dont have to worry about clothes, or noisy talking out loud or sitting still.
My life alone is a choice unless I am financially incentivised to live another way.
 
Staying in today and quite happy about it! Been up awhile, and decided to ditch a few subs on YouTube. They were a waste of time and became annoying...so they're gone.


This guy has to be a professor of literature. I had a similar one when I was at Berkeley. 😄

usually Grubhub cuz have free delivery thru Amazon Prime, but sometimes Doordash or Uber eats or from restaurant apps. Depends on mood/best deal
I duno why I do this, pretend the pony paddocks are mine. There are two empty now, we are going to drag them tomorrow. I asked if I could try start some kikuyu runners up there, they said yes. So I spent my morning digging up runners from my garden to plant in paddocks that arn't even mine. I just cant bare to see them as poopy black sand anymore. Dug up 3 chaff bags full of runners to take there tomorrow.

I have started a few too many projects in the garden. Now I am stuck. My neighbour said I can borrow his ute for a tip run but that seems like more work than burning it all... I will have to think it through. The waterfall is working great, I like it much better than the fountain. But the pump does vibrate the water and the fish havent adjusted to it yet. They hide a lot lately, but maybe thats also because I cut so much of their jungle away.

Went driving inland on the weekend and saw two emus. The roads are shocking, more like they are painted on than actual built roads. I saw a car I really, really liked so made a point of trying to see what type - a Porsche 😂 safe to say that is staying a look and never touch thing.
