I've flown out to attend my dad's consultation to get cataract surgery. That was an extremely thorough battery of tests, about seven different tests with different people taking over 90 minutes. And now he's signed up for the surgery, so I'll have to come out again for that, and we may have to line up some of his friends or other relatives to drive and help. It's been a long process and rather an ordeal for both of us, but at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel, literally and figuratively!
Driving home, he wanted to stop at his mechanic's to have his tire pressure and oil level checked. I'm glad we did, because they found that one tire had a leak! Luckily, they could fix it right away, but it would have been terrible to have a flat on top of everything.
Now I have to figure out when and how long to come out for the surgery in a few weeks. It has to be done on each eye separately, two weeks apart, so that makes it a bit more complicated. But I'm glad I can spend some time with Dad, and help him with this. It took forever to convince him he needed to have it done.
