My issue is I know my card numbers lol... not great it would slow me down maybe, if I didn't know them lol

Also, I feel like it's not a good idea to have everything on your phone, in case you lose it. Sure, it may have a locking code, but someone probably knows how to crack those.

One problem now is that you have to have a lot of your financial stuff on your phone, because companies are getting rid of their websites or require an app in order to access them.

There's also the issue of relying solely on technology, because as we know, it fails. You hear of banking systems failing and then people don't carry a card/cash and they're left scrambling.

Even if going to an event (like a concert, for example) and you're given the code to scan through on your phone, I still like to print out my ticket, just in case. You never know what can go wrong.

The problem is that it's getting increasingly an issue if their technology fails. If they can't take cash or scan tickets, then there's an issue no matter what. I think in some ways it would be a better idea to make some systems more primitive, or at least have better primitive backups.
 
It's hot, humid, and the rain is pouring down. Thank God I don't live in Malibu or anywhere near the coast. Massive flooding, homes destroyed, this is mental!

Despite the rain (and the possibility of a landside near me) I went to KFC. They have original recipe chicken! 😄

I'll be chowing down on chicken and watching my FAVOURITE film. It makes me happy.

Just watched the scene AGAIN, and it reminded me of how adorable Chris Evans was in the best Fantastic 4 film. So I'll watch that again as well. 🤘

Are you sure the KFC is original recipe? The recipe now is:

Salt
Black pepper
Monosodium glutamate
Flour

The original recipe and proportions of 11 ingredients was:

2/3 tsp salt
1/2 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp basil
1/3 tsp oregano
1 tsp celery salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp dried mustard
4 tsp paprika
2 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp ground ginger
3 tsp white pepper

For the last two years of his life, Harland Sanders tried to sue Scott's Chicken Villa (the organization he sold KFC to in Canada) for false advertising because tthey claimed to use the original recipe of 11 herbs and spices. From 1960 to 1979, he lived about 4 miles southeast of us on 1337 Melton Drive in Mississauga. His flagship store was at the corner of Dundas and Tomken, about 2 miles from me. It is still there, but we stay clear of it because my daughter got sick on their stuff the last two times we went. Harland was the first celebrity I ever met and he had the gift of making you feel like you were the only person in the room when he was speaking to you.

He showed up at our church because he was invited by our minister to fund a permanent chaplaincy at our local hospital for a staggering $500,000 per year. He wisely declined. This was the minister who performed our wedding in 1974 and he had been the choice of our selection committee, of which my father-in-law was a member. This minister was defrocked in 1983 for making it with three of the women in the congregation, two of whom were married and one was separated. The minister himself was married. I had never liked the guy my father-in-law had chosen but I considered it impolite to roll on the floor and point and laugh. I guess I wasn't born to be polite because that's what I did.

That's true, I agree.

Last year I went to a couple of events where there was no option to even print a ticket, phone only. So to be on the safe side, I did take a screen shot.

I just wonder what would happen if system glitch or fail at the time of people trying to enter the venue. It would be chaos.

Yes, I'd been to one like that where you had to use your phone. There often seems to be overconfidence in their systems and protections, even when such failures are known to happen.

I am concerned this is going to become the norm.

Must admit, felt a sense of relief when I scanned the barcode and the gate lit up green and I was allowed to pass. Phew, no technical issues! 😁

I am sure it will become the norm, sadly. More and more things are going to where you need a mobile phone to use them, and people who only go online with a phone don't have printers. They may have access to a printer at work, but I'm the only one of my friends who has one at home.

I think you're right.

Look elsewhere - I'm not sure what it's like in your neck of the woods, but I've now gone to venues that are card only, car parks that are card only, with no cash option available. I'm not a fan.

(Side note: home printer owner too! But don't get me started on the price of ink cartridges...)

really hate the no cash and attempt to force phone usage. I have no money on my phone in any form, and won't... but it is getting harder and harder to be that person

It's not quite as bad as that in most places, but I have parked places where if you didn't have a card, or a phone, you couldn't pay.

I actually have two - technically work ones admittedly - and the reason I have two is because the printer cartridges for the newer one cost a fortune! So I still use the older, cheaper, less capable one for some things simply to save money.
