1.02 "1987" - Airing 9/22/05 (FOX-US)

It was ok, but im not liking the jump a year every episode thing. It wouldve been better if they just did it one year per season, or jumping 2 years every season since its really hard to get good charecter development with all of them being a year older each episode.

I liked the episode - liking the show a lot. I want to see hwo Will becomes a priest lol. You know it's not going to be so easy as it being the two of them who did the shooting. There has to be another twist to it.

I still like the experiment in format, but it is a little forced, or something. I hope the payoff is worth it at the end of the season.

Watching these kids in "the present' is interesting. You can't quite buy them as pushing 38-39 yrs old.

I heard R.E.M. and Crowded House. The "Whitesnake video" with Jenna was pretty hilarious. That was supposed to be her, right?

This show is really starting to grow on me! I have to admit, I didn't think I was going to last another episode, but now I am thoroughly intrigued. How does Will become a priest? The last we saw, before the scene where Marjorino says he wants to talk to him, he was walking out of Craig's dad's office, about to start a new job with him! Ok.....Aaron takes off for Seattle.....Jenna's on destructo-path, I totally know where that's going. What I want to know is......who's dead? We still haven't seen who the dead person is. So far we know it's not Carla or Will.

Jenna would seem to be the most likely candidate for getting offed by someone. But it can't be that straightforward...?

I heard R.E.M. and Crowded House.
Ah, I missed Crowded House! When did they play that? I'm still waiting for Boy George, Wham, Def Leppard, Cyndi Lauper.......heh!

I'm thinking it's Craig, but like you said goldenboy, it can't be that straightforward, can it?

I'm kind of with Primal Slayer and Goldenboy on this entry. It's like it's in danger of getting too modular, or something. Like they want to push the plot to a stolen baby plot - no problem - insert troubled girl type giving away baby scenario here.

They don't give us a real character to connect to first. The result is it lacks emotional affect.

They seem to think they can just slap it in, because we've seen it before. The cop character doesn't really seem like a suspect abuser, but because we need a quick flashback seque, he just grabs the nearest plot device character, and starts slamming him around the room.

I really liked the pilot. I hop this ep is just an aberration.

Well they have to have some segueway episiodes - they all can't have the big reveal in them. 🙂

That Jenna as Tawny Kittane (sp?) thing was sort of poor though lol

Dude! Whitesnake! LOL! When Jenna was walking out of that club with the Whitesnake guy, he looked like Dana Carvey in a Twisted Sister wig.

Whatever happened to that Tawney person...

I think the closest thing to a protagonist is Will. Both the R.E.M. and Crowded House songs seemed to relate thematically to the doomed Will/Samantha connection.

He seems like the nice, maybe too nice, blue collar schmoe you're supposed to invest something in. But he's actually pretty bland.

Building credible characters, intimacy does seem like sort of a technical problem here. We'll see. If it sticks around long enough, that is.

I like how they are sort of setting up EVERY character to either be the dead person or the killer. Like how near the end Jenna said she would probably be dead in twenty years ... and how Aaron (that's his name, right?) was talking about how him and Carla should do something crazy when they're thirty. I don't think Carla is as guilty as they are trying to make her either ... I think there are going to be PLENTY of twists in our future ... or at least I hope.

All in all, an awesome show.

Definitely liked the first episode more, but this is good, I realyl like this show. It's so different but not in a too obvious boring way. Like it. And I like pretty much all the characters, which is a really good thing after only two episodes...
