1 Family Member or 5 Strangers?

Okay, I can't beleive I'm starting a thread like this...but like the Charmed episode asks: Would you save 1 family member froma burning building, or 5 strangers?
 
I'd save five strangers. I don't know how to explain my thinking cleary, but, like, (thinks of how to put) five lives are more important than one? Not that the five lives are any more important than the other. It's just...urgh...you get what I'm saying?
 
it depends on who the family memeber is if its someone i need in my life then id choose my family but if its like some ragamuffin who does nothin with his/her life then ill save the strangers
 
Idealy, I'd like to be the kind of person who would honestly be able to say that I would save five strangers... And depending on the family member, I possibly could. But I think the point is weather you would choose someone you really loved or five strangers... And if it came down to say, my mom, dad, or my brother... I just don't know if I could be that good of a human being.

Also, I assume we are talking about average people, on an equal moral plane more or less... But, if the strangers were moral degenerates, sociopaths, etc; Then I would again pick a family member.
 
Like Rene said, depends on the family member as there are a few that I have issues with. If it were my immediate family there is no choice, I would take my family. I'd like to be able to say i'd be noble and save the 5 strangers but for me its human nature, my family comes first.
 
I'm gonna fall inline with rene, Kindred, and Faith. Family definitely comes first for me.

lol...i'd save none because i'd be to busy trying to debate the issue...
 
Again, it depends on who it is! If it was one of my evil parents then I would save the strangers... but if it was anyone else then I would save the family member.
 
I have no idea really. i think that the choice i make here would be different from if that actually happened. if it actually happened i would not have time to think i would just act. but saying that i would prob save my family or someone i love rather than someone that i have never met before.
 
Going to have to go with the majority and say I think I would save family member. But it would depend on the family member. If it was my father or a couple of my extended family then I would chose to save the strangers. Wow, never really thought of this before, not a nice thought at all! 🙁 Imagine if that choice had to be made, it would change your life and then imagine what the five strangers families would say to you........ ::disturb:
 
i never really thought of what the would happen to the 5 strangers familys. i mean you would either cahnge your life forever or destroy theirs. i now really have no idea what i would choose.
i mean on the one hand i would really want to save my family or anyone that i loved
but on the othe could i live with destroying all of those lives and not just the 5 strangers lives but their familys lives as well...
 
I'm selfish. I would save my family member. I'd always have some guilt about not saving the 5 strangers but comparing that to the guilt of if I'd let one of my own family die would be easier to live with.

I have to agree with Yusu-but what I THINK I'd do would be to save the family member-but actually being in the situation, i just don't know...
 
IF the family member was an uncle/ant of cousin, as much as I lvoe them I'd save 5 strangers. Yet if it was my brother, mum, dad or grandparent it be them I'd save. It all depends on the situation.
 
I'd save the family member, definitely. Sorry, but my family's more important than strangers.
 
I would try and save the family member first then the strangers aswell 😀
But as most of you have said it would depend on the family member, i really just cant imagine standing there watching five people burn to death so i would try and save everybody even if it meant risking my life..as everything happens for a reason, and if something is meant to happen it will no matter what you do!!

Of course if it actually came down to it id just save my own ass...lol j/k 😀
 
Can I say friend instead of family member, that makes the choice harder 😀

It depends a bit on who the friend is and who the strangers are...

but I think the right thing to do is to save the strangers.
