10 Days of Angel Day 10: Favorite Thing

Umm, tough.

Favorite character : Angel
Favorite place : Pylea
Favorite episode : Too many

Favorite of everything : The sadness and friendship. Especially, Angel's sadness. It made a good show. I learned that even you have a hard time, you can't give up hope. You have your friends that support you.

Favourite thing - ANGEL Drooooool lol

No in all seriousness, Angel still is my fav thing about the show lol. I love the fact that the show is more adult and darker than Btvs was at the start.

Angel is sort of the male version of Buffy right? Deals with guys doing guy things and guy problems. It was a lot more accessible to me as a guy.

The themes of redemption and dealing with the consequences of your actions are 100% more up my alley then the Buffy 'growing up' motif. This is due to the fact that I had already grown up by the time I watched Buffy probably. 🙂

I think my favorite thing about Angel was that it took a world that I loved 'The Buffyverse' and made it more adult, more male, more perhaps realistic?

I can't even pick a favorite character, let alone this, but I'll give it a try.

The friendship/family themes- that's my favorite thing of Buffy and Firefly too (Dollhouse is sadly lacking in that department). I've always loved the concept of "created family" so finding the Joss shows was hitting the jackpot. It's why season 3 broke my heart so hard that I still have trouble watching it- that they could turn their backs on Wesley so easily.

Also, the message of hope.

My truthful favorite thing about Angel... the only reason I started watching it and continued to watch it was well David Boreanaz. If it werent' for him I dont know... but I think the characters were my favorite thing about Angel. They were every day people pretty much you could relate to them.

Gosh, what a difficult question!

I'd say I agree with most of what Wesley said. Although I do think of Angel as a different show than Buffy, I definitely see Angel as a continuation of the themes Joss was working with in Buffy.

I guess my favorite thing about Angel is well, Angel himself. After all, like Buffy, his show wouldn't exist. He's the man. The one.

I love the evolution of the show and the characters. The love the nior-ish detective drama of the first two seasons, to the darker more convoluted melodrama of season 4, to the funnier, more campy parody of Season 5.

Becky *hearts* Angel.

Favourite "thing" about Angel (the show) is that is's a bit more adult, darker than Buffy. Because I can't help but compare the two shows even if there's really no need for it. Being more male than Buffy never bothered me though when it comes to Buffy. I keep in good touch with my feminine side. 😉 Other than that the character development. People changing and not only a little. In too many shows the characters just stay basically the same. The journey a lot of the characters do.

It's interesting to me that people call Angel a more "adult" show. I see Buffy as a very adult show. Buffy Studies - prime example. Adults, like myself, are obsessed with Buffy. I wonder why people make this distinction.

I don't think it means that people think Buffy is a show for kids that adults can't love. I love both Buffy and Angel and most of the time Buffy has been my favourite. It's more the tone of the show. Buffy is about high school, college and growing up while Angel is more about the stages after that. That Cordelia is as old as Buffy doesn't matter. It's the feeling that you get from the show in general. At least to me adult doesn't mean better or just for older (how ever you want to make the distinction) people.

Agreed. I don't think being about teens makes it a teen show. I mean, look at some of the stuff that's called "teen show" and compare it to Buffy"¦ I think Angel is darker, but not necessarily more 'adult'.

My favorite thing was definitely developing and exploring the character of Cordelia Chase to a much greater length than was done on Buffy. =D

Very tough question!

My favorite thing right off the top of my head is the characters, and how they worked off of each other.

Angel and his hair
Just kidding...sort of. 😛 I like that the show was darker but it had it's funny moments just like Buffy did. The theme music is absolutely amazing. When I watched my dvds for the first time, I remember being excited everytime I got to watch the opening credits. Angel's story was about redemption and Buffy's was about destiny and I think I liked Angel because he chose to fight, where as Buffy was chosen. Angel just gave us a different perspective on the good vs. evil fight. Not so say that they Buffy was any less then Angel, cause she's my idol, but Angel was like the guy vampire slayer with some twists.
Of course, that's just my weird way of explaining why I like the show. 😀

And to comment on the whole "adult show" thing. I think that Buffy and Angel were equal. 🙂

what's the best thing about Angel? When i am watching this show(i am currently watching season 5,just saw "damage") i realise that it is so different than any other show i had seen...apart from the fantasy/mythology part so many values are shown: friendship, love, dignity, faith, struggle for redemption and so much more!!!The thing i like very much about the show is that characters make mistakes, they are confused about right or wrong, they sometimes do things because they believe it's the right thing but they end up doing sth bad...
and of course Angel himself...the reason i started watching the show was because of Angel and the way David portrays him...not to mention the apparent HOTNESS of Boreanaz!ok seriously now,Angel is a very complicated character,i like his struggle to save his soul and the way he fights to do the right thing...and how much he loves his friends!Every character in this show is analysed and is evolved!Thank you Joss Whedon for giving us the AMAZING BUFFYVERSE!!!

I think that my favorite thing about "Angel" is that while BtVS is more goofy at times and lighter, "Angel" was always darker and the more adult show. There were more adult relationships and themes, and it was a nice change to the young-heartedness of BtVS.
