10 Days of Angel Day 7: Season 4

No. Not worst or bad. It was my favorite season before I changed my mind to love season 2 lately. 😀

I love season 4. Some people say it's dark, but I think it's not as dark as Buffy S6. There're awesome big bad like The Beast and Jasmine. She's very new and definitely not what I expected. We got Wes with new looks and hot girls like Gwen, Faith and Willow. But I have to accept that it went downhill after Jasmine was born. It's so boring. But I had a very good time watching it for the first time, though.(See? I didn't mention Connor/Cordy. Not ever!)

I have to mention how much I love how they started to make cool slow-motion Matrix-like scenes. Like, when Wes used his gun, when Connor jumped and kicked The Beast, when Faith broke out of jail, when Faith got kicked by The Beast, when Fred did the 'magic bullet' ritual, etc. I think this season is all about 'cool'. Even the non-slow-motion scenes like when they confronted Evil Cordy, the way Wes and Fred pulled out their guns was so cool. I guess I love it because the coolness and I love action films, so. And the Apocalypse thingy is fun to watch. Rain fire and no sun. I can feel the despair and everything.

My fav episodes are Spin the bottle, Orpheus, The Magic Bullet and Home. 🙂

I dislike it alot. I did not really get the whole Cordy and Conner thing and I really hated Cordy's preggers story. Conner drove me nuts. I also really liked cordy, so that this was the season responsible for her character's coma, sorta makes me hold a grudge against it.

A great season IMO, i dont let the cordelia and connor thing really detract from it because i didnt really love cordy as much as the other characters.

Bleh, icky, gross! That's an overstatement, but Conner just grates on me. And Cordy was obnoxious which is sad, cuz normally I love her. And I liked the Jasmine arc and the Beast was pretty beastly (hehe), but I just can't stand Conner. Although it was nice to have Faith back.

When I first watched this Season it was definitely my least favorite (not to say I didn't like it). However I rewatched it recently and find myself growing to like it more and more. Originally I think I had a hard time getting past how much Connor and Connor/Cordelia made me want to vom. Once I accepted that it was there however my enjoyment of the season increased quite a bit.

The season has several of my favorite episodes such as Spin the Bottle, Apocalypse Nowish, Habeas Corpses (who doesn't like a good zombie attack), Salvage, Release, Orpheus, and Home. That's a solid 33% of the season that I consider superior. That's enough to forgive the Connor debacle and to be honest Jasmine grew on me and became quite a scary bad guy.

I think it moved from my least favorite season to my second favorite season on rewatching.

I dislike this season. A lot. There are only two episodes I really enjoyed: Orpheus and Spin The Bottle. I loved when Angel and Angelus fought each other!

There are heaps of reasons why I detest season 4, mainly Connor/Cordy, evil Cordy and Lilah getting killed.

I feel very bittersweet about this season. The general storyline really wasn't all that bad. I'm rewatching the whole Angelus story as we speak, and it is awesome! Even the Jasemine thing wasn't really bad. On top we had Weslah, which, in my opinion, is something really awesome. Wesley was in general just really hot that season, the entire season was sort of dark, which is appropriate for a show like Angel, and there were some pretty good episodes at the beginning of the season.

Now to the big but. As you all know, Cordy is by far my favourite character, and what this season did to her was just really really painful to watch. The worst was probably the moment when she slept with Connor (I'm never watching that scene ever again!), but it wasn't only that. The writers sort of turned this respectable character into some weird evil freak, but before restoring her goodness and Cordyness, they just let her drift into a coma. With that they sort of destroyed legacy of Cordelia Chase! I'm glad we still got You're Welcome in the end, to tie some loose ends, but it was more of a consolidation prize, really.

Really agree with the first part. And the second too I guess even if I don't feel as strongly about it as you.
There's a few things that destroy people's opinion of this season but if you manage to look past that I think it's really good. The Jasmine part and the end I think is a great idea even if something bugs me about how it was done. I don't like the episodes that much but I like the story. Does that make any sense? And I don't like the fact that everything that's happened was so this could happen. But the question in the end is an interesting one. How much is free will worth? After all there were fewer deaths and people were happy under Jasmines ruling.

Bringing back Angelus, having Faith come back to help was a great storyline. You just have to love Angelus. And lets not forget the wonderful episode "Spin the bottle". Cordy as a big bad didn't work as well as it could. If the pregnancy is to blame or not I let others decide. And I don't think there's anyone that likes the idea of Connor and Cordelia.

But all in all not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be.

I watched Spin the bottle the other day, a brilliant episode.
But it does remind me of why I prefer the earlier seasons of Angel. Rough demon hunter Wesley is so much funnier to watch than season 4 Wesley.

Connor is also more annoying than I remember...

Haven't got to the Jasmine story yet, so I will wait until I have refreshed my memory before I comment on that.

I love Spin The Bottle and everyone going back as teenagers. Wes was the best while Gunn...pretty much the same.
