I dont get why Lost was the only show was 2000+ to appear when every other show was from the 90s.

Probably because most shows in the 2000's have been average at best 😛

It was shows that changed TV, since 1990. In other words, from 1990 onward, there were 10 shows EW felt changed TV, one of them being Lost.

Which have nothing to do with it. If it were a list of the 10 best tv-shows since 1990 I'm certain that the list would look very different.

I should have probably explained myself differently. I meant that there was pretty much no shows that came up with something original in this decade.

I'm glad to see Buffy on the list, I'm not surprised though 🙂 It really was sort of ground breaking.

Glad to see Buffy is on there but Queer As Folk should've been on there too. I know it doesn't appeal to everyone but it was the first show n the US that actually depicted gay characters as more than just one dimensional. It broke so many barriers & changed what we could see on TV & how gay people are depicted on TV. Such an amazing show.

Lol, funny...I just noticed somebody posted the same list on an X-Files forum I frequent...just from the X-Files point of you, not the Buffy one 😀

Personally, I'm always delighted to see that shows I like really have made an impact. It gives you the feeling of watching sophisticated TV 😀

I was thinking about it and I am shocked my so called life didn't make it but Freaks and geeks did. I love them both and they are both considered best "teen" dramas of all times.

I definitely agree with Twin Peaks being there and would rate most innovative of those (mind you I have not watched them all however). I loved that show and even recently watched it again.

I couldn't agree more. QAF is one of my favorite shows, and Brian is one of my all-time favorite TV characters.

Although the show did do what you mentioned above, many people still find it problematic, mostly because of how many of the characters are depicted as being very sexually active. Many think this is just another way to objectify and stereotype gay male characters.

Also, Buffy was featured in another list. People magazine has a special issue on shelves now about the best television shows of the last 20 years. There's a section on Buffy.

I think it's also interesting when people are surprised to hear of Buffy's enduring popularity. Anyone who knows anything about television knows how seminial and unique buffy was. Writers have been trying to imitate its fast-paced and clever dialouge since the show ended, and with little success. Buffy has one of the most active fandoms, ever. Certianly Buffy changed television. It doesn't surprise me that the show consistantly makes lists.

Yep. Any show that's in the same list as The Real World must be really sophisticated .
