Sunnydale High School, Graduation Day 1999, as the smoke clears and the battle is won Buffy, the vampire slayer, and Angel, the vampire with a soul, face each other one last time before embarking upon the agonizing decision to go their separate ways. Emotionally torn, Angel is forced to leave the warmth of the only woman he has ever truly loved in almost two and a half centuries for a life of solitude in the City of Angels. As he searches for redemption facing enemies of his own, a new chapter of his unlife, a new family and a new series beckons. Now, four and a half years later, the former Scourge of Europe faces another century but this time it's a century with a difference. Angel, the darker and, some say, more adult spin-off series of Joss Whedon's almost cult-like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has reached its landmark 100th Episode! There is no way that CityofAngel.com could let this momentous occasion pass without reliving some of the best moments from over 4,500 minutes of breathtaking, heart-wrenching, jaw-dropping yet often amusing television. With the help of the Angel cast and crew as well as CoA staff and Citizens alike, we have compiled a 'best-of' list below. We think you'll agree that we've touched on most, if not all, the highlights of the series that has engrossed critic and fan alike. The 100 Moments are not listed in order of preference, as that was too daunting a task even for us, plus everyone has their own favorite and personal choices. Instead we have placed the moments in chronological order as they occurred. So, let the countdown and reminiscence begin! (Caution: There may be Spoilers for Season 5)
#11 Orpheus ~ Season 4, Episode 15, Act 2:Scene 6
Wicca Willow Arrives in L.A. - When Willow, the only person to have ever re-ensouled Angel, arrives in Los Angeles to help, she discovers a lot has happened since Sunnydale; she's not the only one to have changed. While sharing a moment with Wesley, they compare their common understanding of the dark side. Willow has studied the Daharim and she admits her past evil. "Well, I never...flayed," he confesses. But then offers, "I had a woman chained in a closet."
#10 Orpheus ~ Season 4, Episode 15, Act 3:Scene 12
Angel vs. Angelus - When Wesley injects Faith with a large dosage of the mystical, enchanted drug Orpheus, Angelus takes it into his system when he bites the reformed Slayer. It causes them both to have psychic illusions, and as Angelus and Faith venture into a hellish mind tour, the most compelling of these illusions is the manifestation of Angel. With Faith down and out of the fight, the real battle between good and evil soon begins.

Cordelia and Connors' Baby Revealed - With Angel safely re-ensouled, Willow and Faith say their 'good-byes' and head back to Sunnydale together to tackle another apocalypse at hand. But before Angel can offer his gathered crew the, "Worst is behind us," speech, Cordelia appears on the staircase of the Hyperion and shows all of them that she is clearly with child.
#8 Shiny Happy People ~ Season 4, Episode 18, Act 3:Scene 1
Fred Sees the True Jasmine - Unbeknownst to Angel and the gang, if any worshiper of Jasmine come into contact with her blood, they will see Jasmine's true self: a maggoty-faced demon. Upon washing Jasmine's sweater of her blood, Fred is now endowed with this clarifying vision and she realizes that she is seemingly one against the world in her escape from this utopian nightmare.
#7 Peace Out ~ Season 4, Episode 21, Act 3:Scene 1
Connor's Confession to Cordelia - In the church, Connor stands over a veiled and comatose Cordelia. He explains that the new beginning has started, if only she could wake up and see it. He says Angel and everyone always need a reason to fight because that is the only thing that gives their lives meaning. In a rage, he punches through a little wooden pedestal and confesses he is not like them; he just wants to stop fighting and rest. Connor admits that his whole life has been built on lies. He just thought Jasmine's lie was better than the others.

Wesley Destroys Lilah's Contract - With Angel now in charge of the new Wolfram & Hart, and the A.I. crew taking over the evil law firm with their own agenda, Lilah reappears as their personal introductory guide. Wesley soon finds his way to the basement and a room with countless file cabinets and begins to search through them. Lilah appears offering that the files have information on every scheme, big and small. He reaches into a file and removes her contract, telling her she has 'suffered enough' as he sets it on fire. The contract burns up but nothing happens. Lilah tells him to look back in the cabinet. The contract is there again. Moved, she says, "It means something that you tried."
"So touching. After weeks of watching the new improved rough tough Wesley, we were treated to a small glimpse of the old sensitive Wes. Angel Frees Connor - With the reality of Jasmine's death and the loss of 'perfect love', Connor feels dead inside and blames Angel for allowing Holtz to take him as a baby. Angel wants to take back the mistakes and help Connor start over but Connor believes death is the only way and he has placed explosives on Cordelia's comatose body. Connor moves towards Cordelia but Angel stops him in time, saying, "I really do love you Connor," and proves it by slicing him with a knife.

Angel Watches Connor - At night, in a quiet area of the California valley, Angel walks to the dining room window of a house set deep in the woods. A family sits at the dinner table, eating and talking. Connor is going off to collage; his girlfriend Tracy may join him. His two sisters tease him for being in the top 10% percentile as his dad offers a toast, but Connor wants to make it. "To family," he says; Angel watches from the window, turns and slowly walks away.

Spike Returns - After Angel opens a mysterious package, an amulet -- eerily similar to the one that played a key role in the Apocalypse of Sunnydale which helped Buffy save the world -- falls to the floor unleashing a mystical whirlwind in Angel's office that forms into the screaming shape of Spike to everyone's shock, who had burned to a heroic, dusty death while wearing it in Sunnydale.
"We all knew it was coming but it was still an amazing moment to see Spike dramatically un-dust in Angel's office. Add to that the team's reaction, especially Harm's, 'Blondie Bear?' and it perfectly illustrated why Joss is the master of mixing disparate tones and genres into something wonderful to watch." ~ CoA Staff Member, Tara DiLullo

Wesley Kills His Father - When Roger Wyndam-Pryce unexpectedly arrives in Los Angeles to visit his son, Wesley can do no right in his father's eyes. But when Roger jeopardizes Wesley' position at Wolfram & Hart by stealing the Staff of Devosynn which has the power to take Angel's will, Wesley will do anything to prove his father wrong. Wesley tracks Roger to the roof where he has incapacitates Angel and takes the staff back, but Roger threatens to kill him and desperate now he grabs Fred. Without hesitation, Wesley shoots his father 9 times. Moments later, Roger's body begin to buzz as electricity shoots out to reveal a Cyborg before their eyes; not Wesley's true father.

Lindsey McDonald Returns - Always the vague and mysterious, Eve enters a room, its wall covered in an ancient language and archaic symbols. She smiles as she undresses, climbing into bed as she snuggles up to her accomplice in their recent pitting between Angel, Spike, and the Senior Partners. After a two and a half year absence, a tattooed Lindsey nuzzles with his new partner in crime.
