Season: three

Discuss this episode here. What did you like or dislike about this episode? Do you remember at first really believing that Angel had turned evil again?

To me, this is my favorite season three episode. I just love how Buffy and Faith interact in this episode.

And you can't beat Xander: "Yes, it's nice to know he broke my face in a good way. It's a good bruise."

🙂

I love this episode. It is just choc full of perfectness. When I first watched it I really thought Angel had turned (Imagine my pain lol). The twist was brilliant, the episode really sucked you in so you felt caught up in it. Buffy at its absolute best!

Some of my favourite lines

'It's a good bruise'

'That guy just bugs me'

'No, really, don't get up'

'Psych'

'I introduced him to his wife'...LMAO

'You still my girl...

...Always'

Karma for that final bangel line :)
Aw, the first time I started shipping Fangel, lol

I love this episode, I can remember watching it for the first time and thinking "OMG! They're BOTH evil?! There's no way Buffy can defeat both of them!!" I was so worried about Buffy, and how she was going to win.

What really amazes me about this is how well Angel acts as Angelus, considering he's basically working against his soul, and we know how well that turned out the last time he did that. (The guy who got shot in the coffee shop, on Angel. He ended up living on rats for decades)

I loved the whole plan, how Faith tried to suduce Angel and how gutted she was when it didn't work, the demon that was a double agent, and why he was in debt to Giles.

Buffy's Union Jack shirt rocks! I always wanted that! lol

I'll be back with more, when I've fixed my iPod! lol

I thought Angel and the Mayor had really good scenes together, would have liked to see more. I thought once again the true meat of the episode were the words unsaid in the empty silence of Angel and Buff looking at one another and thinking about everything that happened. Their silence was so potent and powerful.

i LOVE the xander getting smacked.... i know i know i lovesz my xan-man but it was just perfect. its not like xander deserves it tho im sure most will disagree but he totally had it coming.

Ohhhh Enemiiiieeess *___________*

I adore this episode *_* I love evil Faith with fake evil Angel xD It´s truly a Fangel love.
The dialogue is perfect, I love Angelus quotes so.. And I think Faith would love to have him for her.

"You know, I never properly thanked you for sending me to hell. Yeah, and I'm just wondering where do I start? Card? Fruit
basket? Evisceration?"

I also like the Mayor/Angel part: "Mmmm. Can't be killed, but you don't like germs?"

But the best part, the one I was more surprised than Faith first time I saw it:
"Faith: What can I say? I'm the world's best actor.
Angel: Second best"
I was like "OH CRAP!" .. Felt sorry for Faith, really.

I´m not a Bangel so... kinda had fun with Buffy suffering... and not so fun with the "always" part.. hehe

But then Giles came up and made me happy again:

"I introduced him to his wife."

Yeah, I know, I like the whole episode... it´s one of my most watched epis *_*

"Faith: What can I say? I'm the world's best actor.
Angel: Second best

I love that part as well!! Hah ha!!!! I thought Angel was evil! I was like wtf!!!!!! lol NOt again

I honestly don't remember the first time I saw this; it may well have been on the DVDs. BUT I don't remember being surprised that Angel wasn't evil, either. Maybe Angel's just not that good of an actor? But you have to give DB props; he played Angel playing Angelus! When I watch it now, I can see the subtle differences between DB playing Angelus and Angel playing Angelus. Layers of acting like that always impress me.

I loved how smug Faith was in the episode, and how you were totally with Buffy, great twists and turns, Angel really was the world's best actor..

Must admit that I was fooled when watching it the first time.
Really like how the revealed it, I didn't know what to think...

Cordy didn't do much in this episode but she is brilliant when asking Wesley out.
Xander: And on the day the words "flimsy excuse" were redefined, we stood in awe and watched.

And poor Wesley is having a hard time (us usual around this time). Makes for some good laughs though.
Wesley: If these books are important as he says, he has good reason to hide. Finding him is going to be extremely difficult.
Xander: Found your demon.
Buffy: Fashion tip, Wes. Mouth looks better closed.

I am also very curious about how Giles met that demon and his wife. Probably during his Ripper days. Is thera a fanfic maybe?

/SK

i love the giles "i introduced him to his wife".... i liked that little insight into the whole magic demon sort of world and how normal it all could be.

Great episode enjoyable to watchm no dull moments but still not among my biggest favourites. Don´t know what´s wrong with me...

Buffy´s and Angel´s little acting to fool Faith is great but it would be fun to know how long it´s supposed to be going on. Was it already planned by the time Buffy sees Faith kissing Angel on the cheek? Or did they plan it out later? Maybe right after the time Willow tells Buffy to go and talk to Angel? Hard to know exactly how much time has passed before Faith shows up again. But the whole plan (inlcuding the whole "light show") must have taken a while so somehow it feels like it had to be done before.

I just love how the major throws in total random things while talking to Faith. Hairstyles, milk and suggesting miniature golf as a mood improver is just hilarious. And Elizas smile is just great. If I remember correctly that smile wasn´t supposed to be in the scene. Eliza just couldn´t help herself and they liked it so much they kept it in. I´m not even sure the line miniature golf was in the script.

Cordelia hitting on Wesley. "I have a paper to write for English and you're English, so I thought ... (sees the looks from Buffy and Xander) What? Is it so wrong to be getting an insider's perspective? (to Wesley) I study best in a good restaurant, around eightish? Think it over?" 😀

Do you remember at first really believing that Angel had turned evil again?
I remember being confused and like "What? Not again..." But yes, I thought he had turned evil again but didn´t think it would last long. But that it would be such a short time and fake I didn´t see coming. And the reason for it being fake? "I introduced him to his wife" even though a funny line it felt like like the easy way out.

I thought so, too. How did Giles know that Faith and the Mayor were going to try to steal Angel's soul? When did this whole plan come together? The only thing I can think is that the demon-dude, when he found out exactly what the Mayor wanted, knew that messing with Angel was messing with Buffy was messing with Giles and went to Giles for instructions. But it did seem kinda convenient.

Ahhhhhh! The memories!
*basks in the memories for a bit*

I remember this episode fondly. If only because I was SO MAD through most of it because I was totally sick of Angelus and FURIOUS that I might have to waste more fun "Get the Mayor and kick Faith's butt" time dealing with him.....AGAIN.
(NOT a big Angelus in "this" time fan....only in flashbacks)

Even now when I watch the end it makes me SO happy, even now that I know what's coming it still does it. That last little bit when Faith says she's the "World's Best Actor" and Angel says, "Second Best" I laugh and laugh. And then the whole ending blurs together as I can't hear much because of my own laughter.

However, on the general "Bangel Is Annoying" front, this episode irks me.
The fact that Buffy is SO quick to suspect Angel wants Faith makes me want to say, "True Love my BUTT". I was really ready to blow it off as they were in cahoots the whole time....until the episodes after this one where she's still whining about it.
What I would LOVE to see is Buffy to finally DESERVE one of these guys that she gets.
I'm really a good Spuffy either but not because of Spike, more that Buffy seems to always look totally past the good parts of the men she dates....Angel, Riley AND Spike. The only guy she spends a lot of time really trying to give 300 excuses to is that jerk wad Parker.

I really don't think she deserves Spike either. I just happen to enjoy watching their relationship grow more than I like watching any of the others.

I just want to slap her for ever even thinking Angel would look twice at Faith.

Cordy wouldn't do that. CANGEL FOREVER!

*rant over...please continue with the episode discussion.

This episode I sort of forget about while I'm watching through season 3, then it comes up and I'm like 'Oh, this one. I like this one🙂'. I don't know why I forget about it because I do like it. Maybe because there's so many more memorable ones going on around it.

Anyways, I remember watching it for the first time and thinking that Angel hadn't really turned. I knew it was an act. It seemed so obvious.::huh1:: Not because of David's acting, just because of the set-up of the ep.

I can never forget this episode. It's a must watch for me!

I thought that DB did a good job playing Angel who was playing Angelus. And I never did realize that Angelus always called Buffy "Buff" when he was around.
