Discuss this episode here. What did you like or dislike about this episode? Did you know that there was something wrong with the boy and the demon was the one trying to get out?

How about watching the scenes where Wesley was trying to exorcise the demon, and David B. is just cracking up in the background? 🙂
 
I almost don´t remember the episode, actually...
But the thing with the boy being the evil thing was cool, wasn´t expecting this.

It´s season 01, the best part was like they were relating, Wes and Cordelia doing funny stuff. Like Cordelia and the wrong box for the demon, Wes afraid of her brownies.

Angel with the cross doing the exorcism is cool.. but I almost don´t remember it either xD I´ll try to find what SpikedBuffy said xD

I think that is the case with quite a few of Season One, Angels. They are simply forgettable. This is another one of those episodes. The glowy demon pee was good, and the twist at the end, but all in all it was very forgettable.
 
This really is one of the more forgetable Angel eps but still entertaining enough. The family freaked me out though, especially the little boy. The exorcism was quite fun though...cannot believe I just said that.lol
 
This was an interesting exploration of what, exactly, constitutes a soul, and whether we have one by sheer virtue of being born human. With all the stuff thrown around about Angel and Spike being all soul-having, I wish they'd done more stuff like this throughout both series.
 
The Mom was sooooo annoying, I wish she would have just stayed out the room, I wanted to slap her about.
 
For some reason when I watch it I am always reminded of Smile Time? I have no idea why...

I guess I wish they had explored it more too because it was JUST that part that makes me not like it so much.

There's enough issues on Buffy and Angel with the whole soul thing and what it does or doesn't represent.
Once you throw this kid in that IS possessed but then "not really" and is just basically evil, I think it messes with the theories that are already on the table.
For the bulk of the series Soul=Human and no soul = demon.

The general twist of it wasn't bad. I like the basic story, it just doesn't exactly fit. I like to just explain it as "Season 1 Oopsies" but it still bugs me.

Although I do like Cordy shopping for the Ethros box and watching Wesley try the exorcism.
Angel's good at throwing funny parts into even the worst episodes!

but liked the twist on the 70s horror movie sorta dealy-o they did
 
This episode kind of creeps me out. The whole family is creepy. And suspecting different members of the family to be lead to believe it was the demon to finally realising that it´s the boy himself that are the "bad guy" in this episode is a nice twist.

Still as been said bu previous posters not the most rememorable episode. But it has it´s moments and Wes trying to do exorsicm is sure one of them. But my favourite quote, and actually one of my all time favourites is "Circle. Angry. Kill, kill, kill! Go to church already." Not very special to others but I like to be special. 😉 It always make me smile.

And funny moments aside, this is the quote that I think sums up the episode for me: "Do you know what the most frightening thing in the world is? Nothing. That's what I found in the boy. No conscience, no fear, no humanity. Just a black void. I couldn't control him. I couldn't get out. I never even manifested him until you brought me forth. I just sat there and watched as he destroyed everything around him. Not from a belief in evil, not for any reason at all...That boy's mind was the blackest hell I've ever known."

And considering the title of the episode I have to post this I Got U Under My Skin I didn´t grow up with Frank Sinatra, ok?

I have missed that. :blush: But totally understandable if he did. And it´s not the only time. I know how hard it was for them to shoot "Spin the bottle" since the actors wouldn´t stop laughing at each other.

The only other example that has been brought up to discussion is Warren and how one would "judge" him as a baddie since he´s human and wherefore by definition has a soul. Is it really a soul that defines if you´re "good" or not? Seems pretty obvious that it isn´t that simple. Is it ever said that demons don´t have a soul or does that just goes for vampires? As we notice in both shows it´s not like every demon is evil.

KONK! No, we can't bring up Warren in Angel discussions. Wait until we GET to Warren in Buffy discussions and bring up the creepy kid. That is the ONLY way it works! (in my head)
I did like this episode, great Exorcist-style ep. But for some reason it feels like it drags on too long. It feels like I'm watching a movie...Or maybe that's just me. Anyways I do like it. :biggrin: I love the fact that the wee boy is evil, and that evil isn't defined as black and white as humans and demons, soul-having and soulless.
