15 posts?

I just tried to respond to a post and it says I can't reply unless I have started 15 posts...When did that rule kick in?
When I came here the first time (before the board crash last week) I responded right away with no problems. Is this a new thing?

Were you trying to post a link cause you cant post links till you have 15 posts thats always been the rules for a while now..

So do quotes, which made it a bit difficult to join existing conversations until I had 15 posts.

It's because of the backlink to the original post.

It's not necessary to quote to join in a conversation...nor is it to bring back dead threads and spam.
