OMG I abhor kewl speak!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used OMG and LOL and LMAO a lot, I will give you that, but you will never see me say something is 'kewl' instead of 'cool' or that I'm going '2' the store instead of 'to'. I am not an English professor or major or anything like that, but seeing people type like that is almost as bad to me as people who scrape their teeth on their silverware while eating.

And yes, I'm aware that I'm a weirdo. 😀

I'm going to have to say I agree with Buffy and don't think her request is to much to ask. I personally have an easier time reading posts, emails, etc when they're punctuated at least somewhat properly. I'll admit that I don't always use perfect punctuation, but I try most of the time. I think that's just a common rule on most forums, not just on here. It makes everything look better.

Also, just to give you all some perspective, other forums are more anal about this than this board is. For instance, I used to be a member of the Buffy Forums, but I stopped going on there because they're so picky about their posts. Like, you can't post anything unless it's at least a paragraph long and you can't have a banner in your sig until you have over 500 posts or something like that. They take things a but too seriously there, in my opinion. Also, on ********* it's a totally different story - it's completely unorganized and everyone types in kewltxtspeak. Just sayin'.

I'm just going to say i'm a native English speaker and I suck at punctuation and spelling. I try and that's all I can do, if you don't like it then that's your problem.
Some people find it hard and it certainly isn't "easy" or "not that hard". I find it insulting when someone tells me that, like i'm not trying.

I think there's a big difference (and as a reader, you can tell) between someone not bothering to type properly, or someone having genuine problems (such as dyslexia). Also, obviously there's going to be a difference between posting a one-word answer in slaying practise, and a 6 paragraph long post on an episode discussion thread. I know that I, personally, won't bother reading more than a few sentences into a post unless the spelling, punctuation and grammar is more or less spot-on.

Also, the mods aren't idiots, and will use their discretion to work out whether someone's deliberately and repeatedly talking in "kewl spk"/"txt tlk", or whether it was a genuine mistake.

Personally, posts that are completely void of capitals bug the shite out of me, to the point where I don't want to read them. I feel that if you couldn't be bothered to use the correct casing then why should I be bothered to try and read it. It just isn't conducive to a discussion board, especially one as big as BB that is reading intensive. Puncuation can be tricky and I find that you can easily tell the difference between someone who is unsure but still trying and someone who is just too lazy to write a grammatically correct comment. It's the lazy attitude that I take issue with, not those who are clearly trying.

To who (whom?) do I admit that I don't know what SPG stands for? 😉 First two pages on google didn't help. I guess I could guess. Spelling, punctuation and grammar?

I didn't even know this was a rule. It seems to be broken a lot, more so than size problems? Or maybe I'm just anal about spoilers. 😛

As far as spelling/grammar...I agree that people should take more care with their posts. But I also know that this is the internet, a place where a lot of people don't give a crap about spelling/grammar. So, meh.

Yeah, I know that sigs can't contain spoilers. A while back, this girl's signature was deleted because it had depicted what happens to Spike at the end of "Chosen."

I'm all about protecting people from spoilers as much as possible. I'm really anal about spoilers. Yet, if you really care, I say stay off the boards, you know? That's what I did when I was originally watching both series. As it was, I still got a massive spoiler which pretty much ruined my life for like a month. 😉

Yeah. Most of the time, if it's not been aired in the UK, it's a spoiler. With the more "six degrees of Whedon" items like 24, it's pretty much the US though. (Which really means, if we don't know when it's going to air overseas, we aren't going to go psycho about it.) So, yeah, if you are so incredibly behind on Season 8 like I am, don't go in that forum and mark it read before you do New Posts. We do what we can, but we can't protect everyone, everywhere in the world.

I just try to stay away from topics I don't want spoilers in. For instance, I tried very hard to stay out of Angel Season 5 before I watched it but I didn't and had a massive plot point ruined for me. 🙁 But I never really thought about artwork that contains spoilers... Guess I'll have to think about that from now on when I create siggies! 😛
