Part of the #20 Synopsis is:

[...]even as a larger question-namely, who is Angel's angelic visitor from beyond, and who sent him here?-comes to light.

Could it be Doyle?!?

Who is that Girl? Is it supposed to be Buffy? or another Slayer...she's got stakes strapped to her leg.
 
Well I would take it that the girl in the picture would be this Dez they are talking about...that or Kate.

Agreed, but that's the first part of the excerpt.

"Angel’s attempts to return to normal have been upended by the cat-changer Dez. But who is she, and where does she come from? Find out here, even as a larger question — namely, who is Angel’s angelic visitor from beyond, and who sent him here? — comes to light."

Dez is talked about in the beginning, but the larger plot twist is the "visitor from beyond." Do you think it could be Doyle?

I mean it could be Wes, but not such a big twist there since he's already manifested recently.

Angelic visitor from beyond? If it's not Wes it kinda has to be Doyle doesn't it? I can't think of any other character who died and would have gone to the angelic side of the after life.


Unless we think out of the box and it's a play on his name? Angelus? he has an awfully Angelic face after all?

I know I am reading far too into this but doesn't the girl in the pictures clothes look very Twilightish?
 
It could be Doyle, but do demons become angels in the afterlife?

Maybe it's Shepherd Book. (It totally would be Shepherd Book if I was writing it.)
 
Well Angelic doesn't necessarily mean an angel does it? As far as the girl, I agree that she looks an awful lot like Kate.

The clothes? I think that outfit's just become standard Buffyverse Combat Garb, because the Slayers wear the same outfit on certain missions.

I don't think it should be Angelus since they made such a big deal about Angel having Angelus inside of him. I was all for having Angelus being a big bad when Angel was human, but I'd say Vampire with a Soul Angel wouldn't be himself without Angelus deep down.

Btw, TFAW says Aftermath takes place two weeks after Not Fade Away, so we're still over a year behind Season Eight.

One wild guess is that Buffy goes to LA to see Angel & Spike after they become famous, they disagree on something important (like the S1 Faith Arc) and the big twist is Spike sides with Angel. It would certainly explain why they're not seen outside of Buffy's dreams in S8.
 
I really don't think it is Buffy. If she is going to feature it will be in her comic, especially when her story is so unresolved.

I didn't mean I thought it was Buffy in this particular issue. Sorry, I wasn't too clear. I just meant that maybe in Aftermath or Lynch's arc that follows, Buffy may come in to explain why Spike & Angel aren't even mentioned in S8.

That is going to take some explaining. I really cannot think of a single reason why they wouldn't know.
 
Why Buffy wouldn't know about Angel and Spike. If she knows about Harmony she must know about Angel, right?

I don't see Spike siding with Angel being a twist, he's obviously bonded with Angel, that was obvious back in S5

Possibly Buffy does know about Angel and the general goings on in LA, but she just figured that he either could or already had taken care of the problem, or would have called if he needed any help from her. The last time she had visited unannounced, Angel had been very definite about LA being HIS town.

As for Spike, it just might be that he pretty much stayed out of the limelight, preferring to let Angel take all the credit for what happened while he helped Illyria and possibly Gunn adjust.

It would be fairly understandable if Buffy, being pretty much full time occupied with the location, recruitment, organization, and training of a new Slayer army, plus all of the other goings on in her own series, to not go very far out of her way to keep tabs on anything that didn't directly and immediately affect her or her troops.

Lynch's arc that follows? There's more after Aftermath?

I think one thing is certain about Aftermath given Joss's lack of involvement and, seemingly, interest... nothing is going to happen that impacts the Buffyverse or Season 8 to any significant extent.

That doesn't mean it can't be a fun story, though. And I think Dez looks sexy as hell in that outfit. So she turns into a cat?

It's confirmed that's Dez then? According to Kelley Armstrong, Aftermath's author, Lynch is already working on an arc that directly follows her six issues.
