I finally see what most of you mean when you say they act out of character now, they've made Dawn into a little tattletale'ing brat D= Although, not knowing if this is a dream or just happening how Buffy remembers it, i doubt how Dawn acts in this issue is canonical, considering she wasn't around then.

And despite the simpler art style, the likenesses are actualy pretty good apart from Giles. Does the art remind anyone else of the old animated series of Sabrina the Teenage Witch though?

lol Do you remember the beginning of season 5? I have no problem with Dawn being whiny or acting like the lilttle brat she was.

I haven't read the preview because I don't want to be spoiled, but I heard that Buffy will be dreaming or time-traveling, so although I bet Dawn's behaviour is realistic (well, monk-manifactured), what happens will probably be "undone" when Buffy goes back to the present. Maybe she's in a alternative universe, like in "the wish".

Actualy i never found Dawn whiny or braty at all.
Clem Rocks, I know what you mean about the out-of-characterness because I also never saw Dawn too bratty...I mean sometimes I thought 'Okay, we get it now enough for a bit, huh?' but with all that was going on you were able to take any tantrums into context. She was never overly annoying....but again I think you're on to something if this is from Buffy's perspective it would make sense to make Dawn tattletaley...as Dawn annoyed the hell out of Buffy for years (from the Monks' view) and up until No Place Like Home. Heck even after then she still annoyed Buffy sometimes!

I do have to say though after seeing the short animation clip online and then using the designs in the comic...it really makes me wish the animated show had hit off.
And I do love Dawn's line of "She's on drugs...we learnt about them in school...."

Actually, Dawn was bratty in the beginning of S5. When Buffy cooked breakfast, Dawn told her mom that she did it and that Buffy helped, then you see the way she looks at Buffy with so much smugness over her mom showering her with love. And Dawn was 14 at that time.

Here she's only ten, of course, she'll act bratty.

Exactly my point. I've always been glad that she was atleast 14 when we got to know her.
Seriously...a bratty, tattletale, 10 year old Dawn is out of context?? Is that comment for real?? Dawn never said "I'm telling Mom"?? I should ignore all these hundreds of anti-Dawn comments I've seen in the past about Dawn being a brat????

A spoiled, bratty, tattletale 10 year old Dawn is exactly what I'd expect.

Getting past that though this is fascinating stuff. Dawn's exists. This suggests an alternate time-line. We therefore have to consider alternate time-lines when trying to make sense of some of the time related mysteries of the Time of Your Life arc.

Did anybody else notice this one? "Oh Dawny, you're not a giant, or a centaur, or a monkey robot".

Does this offer more support for the Dawn is Gates the monkey theory?

The whole idea of this Buffy making a temporary stop in her time leap to an alternate past is monstrous clever, and an ingenious way of showing what Buffy animated could have been.

Why so soon for the preview, I wonder? Why is it on MTV.com?

No, not out of context. But there seemed to be an emphasis with her in the issue which suggests Buffy-Biased-Memory-Based-Dawn. I mean Dawn insults her five times in one sentence I think! haha
After reading it, I'm excited for this return to high school.
I think it's funny that it all seems like a simpler time to Buffy, yet when she was living it she was all complaining and angsty.
I miss the scoobies + cordelia + oz 🙁
i hope this actually reveals something about season 8...cause time of your IV did nothing of the sort.

I thought that too, although the robot part... quite confusing

OMG I LOVED IT aww it was so nice to see them young in high school and together and Giles looked cool.
God this is a awesome way to possibly promote BtAS

Wait, NEXT Wedensday?! *runs to order it*

I loved the preview. I thought it was awesome. Despite the later seasons begin my favorite Buffy seasons, I do miss the high school and Cordy and Snyder, so I'm really excited for this issue.

Snyder Karma.. I knew there was a reason I tolerated your insensitive remarks ;)
Looks great! Its so nice to see Sunnydale High again! It would be to GREAT if they did a spin-off set during S1-3 in this style.

And Dawn is in charecter sadly. She was basically like this in S5 and dont forget this is set during S1 or S2 when Dawn was 10 or 11, we dont know her personality during those days.

You know, I don't think I care for Buffy's disrespect of Cordelia one bit. That's my only beef. Season 8 Buffy would surely know about Cordy's sacrifice, and still she says that stuff. In my book, Cordy is just as much a hero as Buffy is. The line about someday she'll be dead and Willow will be blah blah blah just rubs me the wrong way. When are Buffy writers going allow the Buffy people to acknowledge Cordy as a hero??? Grrrr......makes me like Buffy even less....petty insensitive whiney slayer.

Ya I agree with the beginning sentence. But remember Buffy never knew Cordelia the hero, she knew high school Cordelia and only interacted with her once after they graduated. But they Loeb shouldnt have written it like that. Infact he should have written Buffy as happy to see Cordelia.

I'm not sure Buffy would have found out about Cordy. Angeland the gang were sent to Hell.A, and I don't think they would have trusted Andrew with that sort of news. He wasn't one of the Scoobies in Angel's eyes, so he didn't deserve to know.

But on the other hand, yes it was a little insenstive to all us Cordy fans, but I think maybe Buffy's trying to fit in a little. She'd get some pretty strange reactions if she suddenly decided to be nice to the original, accept no substitutes Queen C. Plus, she doesn't know what's going on, if she's been sent back in time, or sent to an alternative reality, so she has to be careful about manipulating events. If she brought Cordy into the Scoobs before her time, who knows what might change?

I'll give the ole Cry Buffy the benefit of the doubt and concede that she might not know the extent of Cordy's sacrifice, but I don't like the implication that the line puts out there. To me Buffy is implying that Cordy's death doesn't count for anything. It just stands to reason that if Buffy knows Cordelia is dead, then she could know the situation in which Cordy died. Let's not forget Cordelia died before LA was sent to hell, however it is dawning on me that since Angel and Spike had a hard time catching up with "Buffy" in TGIQ, then maybe her info is purely based on hearsay that Andrew picked up. But that doesn't track because Andrew traveled to LA before Cordy woke up.

GRRRR....whatever, even through Cordy's interactions with Willow up until year 3 of Angel and whatever is said offscreen between Angel and Buffy, and even Faith and Buffy, she should have an idea of Cordelia's change. The very fact that Buffy (season 8 mind Buffy) is disrespecting Cordelia just kinda negates Cordy's evolution for us fans. It's either bad writing or a character flaw in Buffy herself.

I know it's meant to be funny, but it just paints Buffy as this petty, unlikeable person. She could have said to Willow: "Don't listen to her Willow. She may not be all bad; in fact she may even surprise us."

Otherwise, I'm incredibly intrigued by this issue's premise so far.

The only way she would know how Cordelia "died" is if Angel told her which he hasnt seen her since Chosen. They wouldnt tell Andrew since he doesnt even know who she is and they wouldnt contact The Scoobies since they were on the outs with The Fang Gang.

And isnt this the only time she has even been mentioned? Buffy saying some few words about her isnt going to change anyones minds on Cordelias evolution.

But I do wonder if Angel is going to be in this episode and if so cant wait to see her reaction to him.

Yeah, you're right about one little sentence not changing fans views. I guess I'm just cranky tonight :)

God, I hope not. Poor Dawnie.

I think she'd have tried to make more contact with Buffy than simply unlocking her shackles.

My theory is that Dawn will emerge from this sequence with shapeshifting abilities, and that this was a planned feature of her mystically-created body, to be unlocked upon adulthood (i.e., losing her virginity).

Wait a minute now...I just remembered something. Because of the delay with the last issue they decided to go with shorter breaks between issues for awhile, so that means this issue comes out next wednesday. Woo hoo!

They're going on a 3-week schedule now, aren't they? Wouldn't that make it a week from next Wednesday?
