So another year is ending.
What was so special about this one? Or NOT so special?
And what do you look forward to in 2008?

Graduating and doing the college thing has definitely been a highlight.
I'm really happy, and I hope to get happier.
As an adult, I think I'm doing well. I think 2008 will bring some tough challenges, but all in all, I think it won't be a big deal. I can't wait to spend my summer in Europe, though! Pure excitement for that one...
🙂

I started grad school this year. In some ways, it was harder than I expected, and in others, easier than I expected. Which I guess averages out to about what I expected. I'm graduating with my Master's in May and (hopefully; still waiting to hear back from programs) continuing on to get my Ph.D.

I know there's a conversation going on around me but I just wanted to jump in and say that 2007 was an amazing year...it was great to me! I remember being scared like the very first minute of 2007 because I read that a generator would be turned on that could have possibly sucked the world into a blackhole... XD.

What I hope 2008 brings to me is greatness. That's all I really ask for. 😀

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the Large Hadron Collider doesn't get turned on 'til May '08
We forgive you for interrupting, TC. *eye roll*

Seriously, though, I'm majoring in Medieval British Literature. I plan to teach that and Creative Writing in some university someday. And write.

Medieval Brit lit, eh? Dude! You have to go to the Huntington Library in Pasadena, CA. They've got the Ellesmere Chaucer. I about died when I saw it.

That's sort of how I felt when it became '06 just because of the whole 6/6/06 thing, but that's over now.

And I'll probably feel the same whenever it becomes 2012, just because all those annoying 'When Will the World End' shows on the History channel say it's all over sometime in 2012. Whatever, though...

That's really cool. I would never have the patience to teach, even to college level students. I get flustered. Kudos.

.

I heard Dec. 21st 2012 is the end of everything :lmao: End of the Mayan calendar or something. Sounds interesting, scary , and somewhat unbelievable. (somewhat)
This year was pretty good. For one, I found this site. :lmao: If I were to make a real list lol It would be pretty long, but then so would a list of all the bad things. So it was a pretty good year. Not the best ^_^ not the worst. I enjoyed it/ am enjoying it.

Oh wow.

2007 was defintely a very good year for me. I found myself, or something close to it, turned 18, and got a job.

I'm glad to be taking this year out so strong. I will be starting at the community college next year and then I'll hopefully transfer to an out of state one for psychology! =)

But yea, all I need for next year is to find someone who truely loves me and to keep myself together.

ANd I wish that me and all my friends, new ones and BB ones, always stay close and in contact through out next year!

I spent the majority of 2007 finding myself aswell! Good for you, and I hope you're very successful in 2008 in all that you want to acomplish!
This year has been pretty good.

Highlights:
  1. I lost 40 lbs and look great.
  2. I reconnected with my ex boyfriend.
  3. I started writing Eternal Night. I'm really excited about it because one of my goals in life is to write a novel.
  4. I've also discovered many things about myself that I didn't originally know.

2007 seemed to go by too fast though. It seemed too tame and lacked excitement.

The reasons I'm looking forward to 2008:
  1. I get to see Alanis Morissette in concert in January.
  2. Alanis Morissette's new CD, "Flavors of Entanglement", is coming out.
  3. I'm taking an Honors English class, and I'm really excited about that.
  4. I'm looking forward to all the new and hopefully good movies coming out in 2008.
  5. I'm really excited that I get the same English teacher next semester as I did this semester. I've learned so much from her, and she's really got me interested in having a career in literature.

I'm hoping that 2008 will bring more excitement to my life. I like a good adventure!

lol...Thanks!! Finding myself took some while! And i wonder what movies are coming out next year! Hopefully something scary!!
I'll join in...

Highlights - graduated high school, started college, recording first demo track, manasquan vacation, one crazy car ride which i can't talk about here, and shower wrestling which i can't talk about her but you can find it if you know which tube to look on...

hopes - find someone to finally date who is worth it, get a job at the radio station, do another demo track, definitely lose that stupid freshman 15, have as good a year as i did in 2007

Wow! A demo track. Thats great!
Highlights-Getting accepted in the Walt Disney World International College Program, living in Orlando for the summer and meeting some of the most amazing people in the world! The Justin Timeberlake concert in Dublin...Just Wow!, Ireland beating England 33-13 in Croke Park...HUGE day in for Irish sport and history, Man United winning the Premiership for the 9th time and getting our trophy back!, Finding some of the best friends I have ever had and finally talking to a really old friend who I had missed so much and I have to say this has been a pretty good Christmas.

Lowlights-Alot of deaths in my family, my Grandmother and Gran Aunt being the worst. Not really connecting with my college course and struggling to find a real focus and losing my sense of self.

2008-I can't wait for the new year. I'm starting my coop in January, I have been asked to take part in a youth leadership course, hoping to go to the music festival of the year OXEGEN and in August will be going to America to study for a semester🙂

2007 - was a pretty good year. I managed to avoid going back to work for a little bit longer, took a semester off my masters studies and just chilled as i was on the brink of mental exhaustion. discovered the BB! The kids all did well at school. I sold my house. Sadly, my grandfather passed away and a couple of good friends lost their spouses.

2008 - will finish my degree, i will have to go back to work, i have to find a new house (which is proving quite difficult), and hopefully my family will all stay happy and healthy.

Happy new year to you all!!

2007 has been pretty confidence-building for me. Totally sticking my hand up for the "found myself" category. Finally got a job based on my own merits and from luck and connections. Finally didn't stress out about things that probably aren't that important. I'm fitter than I've ever been. I finally had the courage to open up to love and while that didn't end well, at least I stopped hiding from it.

I guess this year, I finally realised that you can't always wait for things to go your way and you don't always have to let everyday life stop you from trying to do something you really want to do. So 2008 is full of promise. I'll finally travel like I've always wanted to and who knows where that will take me. I'm looking forward to living every second of it, good and bad....Of course, I'm hoping it's all good.

Great thread BuffetOfSporks, it's neat to hear about everyone's year! I'm glad that everyone seems to have had generally a good year 🙂

My 2007 was definitely a year to remember, lots of good stuff happened and I got to put a lot of old garbage behind me

So.... Highlights:
1) My special someone and I finally got together on valentine's day (and are still going strong)
2) My special someone AND best-family-friend ended up moving in, which despite the crazyness is awesome!
3) I visited a grotto near where I live-- absoloutely beautiful! (pic attatched)
4) Really re-connected with half-sister finally, and my little brother and I are closer now that he's graduated from elementary school-land lol... which is always a bonus 🙂

A very people oriented year! Although on the negative side, my memory key with 3/4 of a revised colony of lost souls went for the dumps (with no backup), so I'm currently redoing the entire story for about the third time-- and it's STILL NOT DONE :cry2: lol, there's a 2008 resolution for ya 😉

As far as 2008 goes, I'm really just hoping to have a great year. Keep family close, keep friends closeby, have a great valentine's day (and summer!), take some time off then wander into the big bad world of full time work (shock!). I'm really hoping to save up and travel Europe after that, but that's more of an '09 hope. Can't wait to see how it goes though! Hope it's as great as this year turned out.

Grotto Pix, for whoever's interested (wish the quality was better, but it gives you an idea anyway):

Awe, all sounds very nice. Glad things are good.
i wouldnt say 2007 has been the best year for me, but it hasn't been bad 😛

Highlights: Getting good exam results was the best thing, cos before that I'd never thought I was any good at anything, but now I'm much more positive and believe in myself 😀
Realising what I really want to be in the future, and starting down the path to get there.

And my hopes for the new year are:
Find a friend who I really get on with and can trust.. or even get closer to my close friend again
Continue doing well in school
annndd get my little kitty fantastico 😀

Definitely fitting back into my smaller clothes. The holiday put a few extra pounds on me...it was so worth it tho.
In general, having a wonderful time with my hunny and of course, let's not forget, starting a family. We want to add kids to the mix this year.

Good Luck to ya! Kids are a wonderful blessing!
Hmm....2007 was a complicated year for me. But not nescecarily (Since the age of eight I haven't be sure how to spell that word!) in a bad way, just had a lot going on. I'm a freelance writer and got quite a few articles published last year in some, albeit small, magazines and I act as well (People always say to me 'how can you have the time to do both?'. But believe me they work perfectly together. And some of the things and people I come across in acting jobs are just true inspiration for writing, hehe) and well I'm more a jobbing actor than anything, I did get some really good parts this year. The most for me being in a short film about human trafficking because I just loved the message they were getting out there with that. And I do photography as a hobby, I just love things like that (when I've been on holiday family and friends have had to literally pull me away from art galleries because it's naturally where I wander to...), and got one of my photos printed in a challenge doohickey (note the wonderful jargon there) in my town, which was very exciting. I think I squeed out my husband, haha.So yeah, this year had a lot going on in my working world which was good.
But for 2008 it's going to be a lot more family oriented as in June we are expecting another addition to the family- it's just been three months now. Stuck between joy and mindnumbing fear over this. .::blinks worriedly::. as it wasn't particularly planned but I strongly believe that everything happens how it's meant to so just taking this big step for both of us as each day comes.
Happy new year in advance for everyone by the way!

Congrats on the bundle. It's always a joy no matter when.
I didn't really "find myself" this year. In fact, I sort of lost myself -- that, a couple of jobs, and a grandmother.

On the upside, I am 5/6 of the way through the revision of my novel. I'll be sending it out to agents and contests in 2008. I also sent a revised version of an earlier novel (one that was a finalist in a 2005 contest) and some revised short stories/poems (also finalists in various contests) back out into the contest world. In the spring, I'll see if anything comes of any of those submissions. If nothing else, this year has given me plenty of time to write. Also, my family came out to SoCal for Christmas, so I had a blast with them.

All in all, it was a bad year, but I'm trying to remain optimistic about 2008.

Good luck with your novel publication. I've been working on that for about 4 years now. :(

Thanks for kind words above and sorry for your losses this year, but the best of wishes and luck for the next and optimistic is the best way to be
The highlight of my year was my induction into politics! I joined the junior Australian Labor Party and along with my mum helped tackle the campaign trail, for the NEW AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER!!! WOOT!! I am sooo glad we have a new government I was sick John Howard and ignorant, uneducated cohorts!

Plus I turned 16!!! YAY!

Lowlights: My Aunty's constent illness, the death of one of my best friends, my boyfriend dumping me, my stupid fractured knee and the time I am currently spending with my father and my step monster.. I mean step mother lol!

Congrats on getting involved in politics!
2007? Not a great year for me. I got bullied for a while, a lost some good friends, though luckily I gained some too, nothing really bad happened, but nothing really great happened, either. The best thing that happened in 2007, was probably my sisters wedding. Being a bridesmaid was so special, and a once in a life time experience (Probably) plus I felt so proud of my sister stood there, I mean she'd been so immature for years, and there she was getting married. She looked beautiful. That was definatly the highlight of my year =]

2008, I hope, will be better, the 'bullying' if that's the right word for the insults being throw at me, has pretty much stopped. And I'm gonna stop obsessing over the past, and all the fall outs with my friends, which she be for a good year. Also, this year, I'm gonna become a teenager, even though, I, apparently, act mature already, I gotta get that up and running. Like the people from Merrick already know, I'm gonna stick at becoming a vegetarian this year. And I'm pretty much gonna be positive and try and make something of my seemingly not life =]

Good luck with the vegetarian thing! And I have to say I'm really shocked by your resoloutions-- they're really great and are definitely not the kind of ideas that you see a lot of people your age figuring out! So major kudos :)

Becoming a teenager? Gosh... here's some karma to help pad the transition.

I definitely wouldn't have guessed from your ability to express yourself in writing that you're 12. Definite maturity sign!
