I've only sen 2 of those, & one of them was Surf's Up 'lol'
What does it say about me that out of all those movies listed I've seen 3: Ratatouille, Transformers and Pirates, lol. I haven't even heard of half of the movies on the list.
 
That's usually how it goes for most people. So many of the typical nominated films come out late in the year, and/or have limited releases.

I'm rooting for (ex-)Minnesota girl Diablo Cody for best screenplay (not that I've even seen Juno yet 🙂).

And I really wanna see Persepolis, that looks very cool. I don't think that's even opened wide in the States yet.
 
Out of all of them I've actually only seen one - Pirates of the Carribean (at least I THINK I saw it.. i remember seeing the 2nd one at least)

Atonement seems to have got a lot of nominations.. good movie?

Ellen Page from the same movie is Canadian so I'm hoping for her. I don't think she ever stripped though. 🙂

I'm a big fan of Juno, so I'd like to see it win stuff. Yeah, even an Oscar will do.

I lost respect for the oscars when Al Gore won one. 😛

Well...the documentary category has always been a total sham, regardless of one's politics. Historically, they've always snubbed deserving docs cos they were too "mainstream", or too fun, or something.

I figured "Diablo Cody" must have been her pen name, or her stripper name. Who's gonna name their kid "Devil"? Well, probably tons of flakey people now, actually.

I'm backing Ruby Dee for supporting actress. I'm actually really surprised that American Gangster didn't receive more noms. I loved that movie. Her character, in particular, really resonated with me. She reminded me of my Granny. *sniff*

Then again, I've been a fan of Ruby Dee for, like, ages. I mean, what's not to love? She is a native of my home state, got her start in soap operas, and totally rocks the screen in projects big and small.
 
The first half of Atonement is good, everything that takes place at the mansion. But the second half, when the guy is off at war, it's just blah. My sister summed it up best when she said it's a 10 minute plot stretched out two hours.

I really wished Chris Cooper would've gotten a nomination for Breach. He was brilliant in that movie.
