I don't really mind dying... and 2012 is both a nice number, and it would mean I don't have to hit the age of 40 (yes, I'm mildly nervous about that zero). Just hope it's gonna go quick and none too painful. Guess I'm rooting for the meteor (if it hits Europe, all the better... you don't want to be outside the immediate death area after something like the Dinosaur Killer strikes).

While I'm usually against genocide, I do tend to agree with Blondie here.

I think retail is just an example. I mean, if you can't work in a store and not get treated like CRAP once a day, there is a serious problem.
Instead of trying to learn about others, SO MANY want to just hate what they don't "get". I spent most of the weekend with "the bigots" who are against the gay marriage in California. The amount of sheer HATE for people who aren't hurting a soul, (except maybe their OWN souls if you're in that religious sect) was MIND BOGGLING.
The Taliban SHOULD look like a bunch of lunatics in this world, and yet, they DON'T. They just make the splashiest entrance.
I've had TWO perfectly well behaved, kind loving dogs POISONED in my own backyard where they were securely in a fence in two DIFFERENT cities because someone HEARD that Chows were mean. Instead of coming to talk to me, they just poisoned the dog on the off chance that SOMEDAY they might get out and something could happen. Not that it matters that our cat and cock-a-poo are 300 times more vicious. WHO poisons an animal who's never done anything to them or ever gotten out of the yard just "because"?

I'm not really wanting us all to get wiped out. I kinda like my life. But, I DO think we could all use a good dose of "Do unto others....."


Boy, it's been a while since I did any streaking with cheese. I feel MUCH BETTER now. Even better that I did it for Indy!

It's not just retail. It's the whole world situation. Look at what's going on in Burma. Or Africa. Or the Middle East. There is a very small percentage of the population who cares enough (and has enough resources) to go out there and help. But there are other people who steal the help that they're trying to give in order to increase the power of the corrupt government over the people who are starving. And they far outnumber the helping people.

I think the major problem is that our social evolution has outstripped our biological evolution, and our biological evolution cannot keep up with the political, social, and environmental climate. So we do stupid things because our biology tells us to, but they don't make any sense in the light of the world the way it is right now. The main outcome of that is overpopulation, which leads to all sorts of other atrocities.

To quote a certain vamp...Life isn't bliss, life is just this. It's living.

Everyone has a story to tell. Everyone has had to face hardship in their lives. Do you want hear about all the crap that has happened to me and my family? cuz I have the stories guys. If you really think we all suck beyond the telling of it then do something about it, make a stand. It's not impossible, people can change. Not everyone, but alot. If your are writing off the entire human race you are writing off yourself and I personally think that that's a very sad thing to do. If you see something wrong and genuinely think things should be better then find a way to do it. Don't disregard the entire population becuase you have had bad experience.

And finally to quote a certain Slayer...Every single person is ignoring your pain because they are too busy with their own.

I had a customer last year that came in looking for her kids uniforms at the very last minute, I was stressed out of my head and got smart with her about it. The next words out of her mouth absolutely floored me, her husband had just died a couple of weeks before. I don't think I have ever felt like more of a turd than I did that day.

My point? You have no idea what motivates people to act they way they do. They could just be the scum of the earth or they could be in more pain that you could possibily imagine.

People are good, just give them a chance and remember that the world owes us nothing. Life is what we make of it.

To get just a little off subject for a moment, I just HAVE to indulge one of my pet raves (pun intended). Who kills perfectly innocent well behaved animals just because they have been led to believe that they are inherently vicious? More animal control departments than you might imagine. Where I live, any dog picked up by Animal Control that is one of a list of "dangerous breeds," namely pit bulls, Staffordshire Terriers, Rotweillers, Dobermans, Chows, American Bulldogs, and a few others, have exactly 72 hours to be reclaimed by their owners, who have to pay an excessively high fine for allowing these "killer dogs" to roam free, otherwise they are killed without anyone being allowed to adopt them, and that includes even puppies who share physical characteristics of any of those breeds. If people were judged by the same standards as these brave, loyal, intellegent, affectionate and protective animals are, it would be called exactly what it is: mindless bigotry. (Rant over)

As for those who work retail: Ladies (and gentlemen), you have my highest admiration and greatest sympathy. My mother worked for many years as a waitress, and more than a few of her customers were so evil and demonic that they should be visited by a Slayer. I was raised from childhood to be courteous to those who were paid to serve (and tolerate) me in any capacity. It's amazing what a simple "Thank you," can accomplish when a waiter brings your food or a clerk helps you find the merchandise that you are trying to find. They've earned our respect just putting up with our quirks and peculiarities, they deserve no less, and I will never deny them their due. They're doing a job that I couldn't do without wringing a few necks, probably before the first day was over.

I kinda think it would be a plague or man-made disease of some sort to wipe people off the planet - & I think it's very *doable* - but I don't think the planet itself would be destroyed. That said, I don't believe anything life-altering will happen in 2012, just as *the end* didn't come in 1984. It's all a bunch of hooey.

HOWEVER... Back in January, The History Channel had a program called Life After people. It was VERY cool.

It showed what would happen in the cities and 'burbs if man just disappeared off the face of the earth. I think the progression was 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, 20 years, 50 years, 100 years, 500 years, 1000 years, 10,000 years. It wouldn't take long for New York City to be overcome with grass, trees, jungle, etc. It would look kinda like I Am Legend. :lmao: Anyway, it was way cool.

What creatures would survive and thrive, which wouldn't.... (surprising answer!)

For the 20 year section they went into that city in Russia that had the nuclear meltdown 20 years ago to show what came back....

It's kinda cool how the earth will go on once our time is over....

Speculation is that Hoover Dam, The Great Wall of China, and the Pyramids would be some of the last things to fall apart.

I don't really believe in predictions of world ending in 2012. How many times we were given a date when world was supposed to end? And well, it still exists.

But I'm really afraid of greenhouse effect and climate changing. It may lead to something bad ( maybe not end of the world but some serious disasters) and I don't think it will happen in 2012 but in some time for sure.
Changes of climate aren't hard to notice where I live. Weather in last few years was at least unusual. The winters are more mild with each year. The last was with almost no snow! Before summers used to be hot and now the are very less warmer. Sometimes it looks to me like our climate is changing into eternal autumn. Some people say it's normal and next few yaers will be with warmer summers and colder winters but I'm not so sure of it.
And I can say I'm becoming freaky with environmental protection lately.

But as a group, humans are just not nice. We fly planes into towers because people don't believe as we do. You don't see a group of cats attacking another cat because his fur is a different color.

We see no problem with treating someone else like crap because they've had the nerve interfere with the smooth sailing of our lives. And presume that OUR time is more important than anyone else's. We kill off entire species because we want fur or need to build a nice big house.
And the problem isn't that there aren't "nice" people. The problem is that the people who DON'T care out number the people who do by SO much that the people who do care are fighting a losing battle every day.
