I'm sure a lot of people have seen this trailer already. I'm surprised it took Hollywood this long to capitalize on the hysteria and paranoia surrounding 2012. It's from the apocalypse-obsessed director, Roland Emmerich, who also directed "Independence Day" and "The Day After Tomorrow". This guy just won't be happy til the Earth is burnt to a cinder and we're all dead.

Apparently Los Angeles is the first to go. What a surprise. We're always the first to die bloody. Us or New York. I don't understand where John Cusack and his family are flying to seeing as how the whole world is falling into oblivion. Really long trailer though. Unless the whole movie is going to be completely ridiculous and violent (probably), seems like they gave away the biggest scene. But I anticipate a lot more brutal and horrifying death to come.

Uhm, I must live in a parallel reality. Is there hysteria surrounding 2012?
Eh, disaster movies aren't my thing. I don't know much (beyond what I read online about 7 years ago--and my memory is terrible) about the 2012 prophecy, but this movie seems to be using the idea as an excuse to make a "timely" movie. Would it have been cheesier to make it 2012? I mean... 2009? Come on. At least Van Halen had the balls to release "1984" in 1984.

That said, I do like John Cusack. And Chiwetel Ejiofor--Serenity aside, he was amazing in Dirty Pretty Things, and Children of Men.

Thanks for the post, I've heard alot about this 2012 apocalypse stuff online and the only trailer I've seen is the huge flood of the Himilayas, which looked pretty cool.

Having said that though, this trailer seemed too ridiculously funny for me to be seen as anythingelse otherwise. Hopefully the movie won't be like trailer so much; and do we not care about everyone else dying? This is like one of those movies where the audience is presumed to only want the central characters to survive. I was kinda reminded of the train scene in Wanted..

That was like the longest preview ever! I don't think I even actually need to see the movie. Why does 2012 always have to be about the end of the world? Could it mean something worldwide will happen? But I don't think it will be the apocolypse..... Maybe a world conciousness....maybe aliens. ha ha Who knows? If John Cusack is in it....it'll be different. A little different then Tom Cruise.... At least I hope it is because why do we need one more we're all gonna die movies? Geez.

Wow, that was a bit over the top lol

Can always be fun with a huge, unbelievable, disaster movie every once in a while though....

I'm a massive fan of apocalyptic / post-apocalyptic fiction so I will probably see this, but I saw the trailer at the cinema recently and it didn't do all that much for me. It seems very paint-by-numbers to me.

I saw the trailer for this but it doesn't look anything special, just another big dumb movie. Which doesn't have to be a bad thing. I'll maybe go see it for a laugh.

Oh great, yet another prognosis for 2012! You know, at this point I'm actually curious as to what is really going to happen. According to the X-Files, 2012 is gonna be the alien invasion, the new Dan Brown book prophecies
a new consciousness, some sort of positive revelation
, then there's a whole bunch or New Age theories and of course accounts of apoclypse...soooo, three years to go, can't wait!

I love end of the world movies. I'm hanging out to see this one. I don't expect it to be anything that's it not. I just find it facinating to see things get destroyed. I love John Cusak as well, so that adds to my excitement.

I think December the 12th, 2012 will be a great day/night to have a kick arse party for sure!

Not to mention the (possibly last ever?) date for mass weddings...

But the prophesized end-of-world day, AFAIR, is Dec 22 2012... so you'll have a full ten days left to sober up after that party. : party: ... ::morn:: ... :grim:

Haha that just goes to show how much I care- don't even know the real date. That's to close to Christmas for a big party I think!

This movie looks hilarious. But in a very unintentional way. (You saw the doughnut, right? I mean...really?)

I probably won't go see this...
