What are your goals for the next year? Anything you want to change or achieve? I plan to spend less and be less of a consumer that shops without really thinking about what it is that I'm buying.

I don't go in for the 'normal' resolutions when it comes to this time of year. I'd like to be fitter, but it's mostly due my disability that I'm not and I can't change that, so it's hard to work on my fitness. But I get by.

The only thing I've got in mind for 2015 is a reading challenge. I don't read nearly enough books and when I do, it's always the same type of books - crime dramas supernatural dramas and the like. So I found this reading challenge list, with 50 different challenges to fill, and I've roped in some friends (@Faith 😉) and we're gonna try to fill every challenge before this date next year.

That's pretty much it, lol.

reading challenge. Thats a good one.
Organization! I want to get my enormous collection of antique radios, FM tuners and electronic test equipment set up so that I can use them and not just have them. Plus, I have to set up a spare room that has only an empty hot tub and junk into my wife's hobby room. I have a customer for a boat that I never use, so I will be cleaning out the garage this year and I may start in on turning it into usable storage and a man cave suitable for working on cars, another hobby of mine. Having worked as a project manager, my lack of organization around the house would have Numfar doing the dance of shame. And to top it off, my wife is extremely organized.

50 different? That sounds intriguing

This year I had a reading challenge for a 100 books but only made it to 91 (only... not too bad really 🙂)

My resolution for this year is the same as for last year - I shall not spontaneously take in another dog.

91 books! Yea I'd say u did great. I probably won't even read 91 books in my lifetime. lol. Although I do need to read more.

I challenge you to read 100 comic books
Things that I must do this year:
Learn to drive
Somehow find a better job than the one I'm in
Read more widely (I like the idea of a book list of 'must-reads'- need to look into that)
Write more fics.
Spend more time with my brother when he gets back from working in the States in April.
Get a dog.

There, that's about it. Those seem do-able. 🙂

It got a little big, but this is what we're doing. I've already filled about 25 challenges, so it's just gathering the books to read, lol.

that looks fun actually, thanks
I'm typically terrible to sticking to New Years resolutions so I've stopped making them for the most part. I am thinking about putting together a list of specific tangible goals for the year; something along the lines of: try 3 new hiking trails, take a rock climbing class, take a cooking class and prepare a completely (new to me) meal for someone. But who knows if I'll get around to putting it together in the next couple days 🙂

I always do some sort of book/reading challenge to help keep me reading, but for some I usually don't consider those a New Years goal. *shrug*

rock climbing is so much fun. If I lived near I'd take it with you! :)

You might want to invite Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) - she has rock climbing listed as one of the things she enjoys as well.
I want to row faster/longer and lift heavier, hopefully avoiding any injuries. I want to start running again - it's fun. Pick up the guitar again - I've been playing for over 10 years but this year I made a deliberate break to get rid of bad habits and sort of start fresh. I want to write more, I have this weird need to write but I've been slacking lately. I want to start learning Portuguese 'cause I kinda like Brazilian music and Portuguese seems like a cool language too. Coding, that's another thing I want to get into. Also, finish my degree. So yeah, that's about it.

Agree on writing and should probably add that and running to my list as well. Once I get started with running I love it. It's the getting started I'm really bad at...

My problem with running is my right knee being a piece of shit. I've strengthened it and it can handle rowing and squats without a problem now but running - I don't know. Oh well, I'll find out when summer comes.

It's supposed to be a huge year for me... It's the end of college. So I need to stop slacking around and really get on writing my dissertation. And I have to decide what to do with the rest of my life, and where to do it.
I'm scared of it all. Basically, my goal is to keep my sanity through it all 😉

My top 3 are:
1) Learn to drive
2) Get my dissertation done
3) Start weight lifting again... or just get back into any kind of physical activity to be honest.

I guess same as what I tell myself every day. Be better, never give up, try my hardest. I don't like making definite goals because I'm under enough pressure as it is to succeed in life, I just have to accept that some things will take more time and that I just have to do my best. Being sick in the past year has change some of my mindset on how I need to do things, and how I need to prioritize some stuff. But for sure, I will try to push myself.

Some of the things I'll be working on in 2015 are: working on my research project, completing another uni course, starting to drive again, save up some money for a car if possible, getting back into my work out schedule (once I get cleared by the doctor), spend more times with friends, family and my horse whenever possible. Most importantly, I want to make a difference where I can.

good ones
My goals are probably the same as last years, since I didn't accomplish any of them. Try to lose some weight and get in better shape, I have a better plan this time around though so I'm more confident in succeeding. Work on and try to finish my stories. Find a better paying job. Hopefully move back home to Southern California, if I can save up some money. And just continue to do good in school. Also if I can, I'd like to find more time to spend with my family. Also hopefully pay off all of my debt. So I got a lot of stuff to work on this year. But I've already been working on it, so I got a head start. lol

The big one for me is traveling. I have to do it this year. And by that I mean somewhere overseas (or Canada, there are things I want to see there too). I've really seen about everything I wanted to see in this country already (USA). I haven't been out of the country in some time now.

A Buffy/Angel related goal is to write some fan fiction! While I don't see myself as a writer of ships fic, I'm really inspired to explore some things from the shows that were left unresolved or never explored in great detail. I also like the idea of writing more crossover stuff from the "AtS world" into the "BtVS world", and vice versa. So those are my two interests: writing about things that were only briefly explored in the show or left unresolved and crossover stuff. But to do this, I need to get up to date on the comics, so reading all of the comics is another goal of mine. Buffy S8 is in the mail.

I don't think I have any other real goals for 2015...I'm happy with the direction my life is going at this point, and I'm already involved in a lot of things that bring me personal satisfaction.

If anything I would want to feel less bad for not accomplish stuff.
I have so many projects and things I would love to do or try to do but not enough time.
So every now and then I feel bad when I haven't done anything useful during a weekend.

I'm not sure why I sometimes feel like I must do stuff instead of just having fun with it. 😕
In the end I only do it for myself. It is supposed to be a hobby and relaxing not something I'm pressured to do.

And the time traveling of course... who hasn't got that as a goal? 😛

Exactly, I'm tired of feeling bad for taking a weekend off and accomplishing nothing. Time spent doing something you like is not time wasted!

I love this thread!

I have big plans for this year. Last year was really tough, so I have vowed to make 2015 the best one yet.

My biggest goals are to find a better day job, exercise more, and stop eating sugar. Beyond that, just to strive to be more compassionate and less judgmental 🙂

To get a good grade in my Degree.
To get somewhere in my chosen profession.
To make one or two new friends.
To eat more healthy and to excicse more.
To read more books.
To film my screenplay or at least some of it.
