This was one of my personal least favorite 24 season's. Apparently others felt the same way. They're going to revamp the series.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The clock on "24" will keep ticking for two more seasons

Fox's unusually late renewal for the Emmy-winning thriller will allow Jack Bauer to keep saving the day through the 2008-09 season, which will be the series' eighth.

Series star Kiefer Sutherland already is locked to stay with the show through May 2009.

"We're re-creating the series," executive producer/showrunner Howard Gordon said. "It is going to be a real-time thriller. Beyond that, it's an open book."

"24" has had a roller-coaster ride the past couple of seasons.

It earned rave reviews for Season 5, which was capped by five Emmys last year, including best drama series and a best actor trophy for Sutherland.

But during its current sixth season, "24" has drawn criticism from fans about losing some of its creative footing.

Gordon said he felt those assessments were "unfair." "On balance, it was a very successful season," he said.

The upcoming re-invention of the series was something the producers have talked about for a while, Gordon said.

Aside from Sutherland, "24" will return with a new cast (some old favorites might return in different roles) and a new, non-Los Angeles location, with the producers even contemplating telling the story from two locations.

Thing about 24 is, it pretty much hit its epic stride by season 2. If 6 were one of the early seasons, people would probably feel different.

But yeah, compared to last season, it feels a little like water treading. None of the new characters are as compelling as Prez Logan and his wife were. And what happened to Chloe's pushy, dysfunctional ways? She's barely in this season. Bah. Still one of my fave shows though, easily.

A revamp sounds good. They got their work cut out for them.

Well this is a no-brainer article. Damn near every character has been killed this year. Only Chloe and Buchanan and Kim are all that's left.

Glad they're talking about getting out of LA though. It was starting to get a little stale in that sense by season 4, IMO. I'd be impressed if they could actually get it out of California altogether, but maybe that's too tough, dunno.

Please tell me Chloe is still in it! I love her. I hate still being on season 5!!!

So far it looks good but there is still 2 hours left.
They did do a brush show using the Mountain Men (US militant groups comprised of civilians) maybe they will explore that. Hell anything as long as it does not involve foreign terrorists, nuclear bombs, nerve gas and kidnappings. Oh and no cougars either, lol.
