'24' (Spoilers for UK)

And who didn't want to see Jack smack Agent Walker in the chops for the did you feel anything when your wife died in your arms?

Definitely not me. I love the Renee Walker character. Jack's become hard out of necessity, he believes. He's the anything to get the job done guy. Renee's wrestling with the demons of does she want to take the step over the line to be where Jack is. Without Renee 24 is preaching Jack's head space. Renee confronting the demons of going there, and even forcing Jack to face the ugliness of his commitment gives the show depth.

What's the name of the other FBI guy - the one who runs things? I don't like him, but I get the dynamic. He's kind of the anti-Jack, with Renee in the middle. It's beautiful, I think. Great for dramatic tension.

Oh, and that was great interplay between Jack and Renee.

Jack:
The next time you pull a gun on me you'd better be ready to use it.

Renee:
I was.

Also, Renee's wife comment rattled Jack on a human level. It's a way of reminding viewers Jack is human. Renee is almost Jack's own humanity battling him, and it's no slouch. She's tough, and maybe she's what Jack needs.

I like Renee too. Whenever they get into the heavy interpersonal stuff on this show, it tends to get a little overwrought, melodramatic. But it's good. Interesting dynamic between those two.

I see where you guys are coming from but don't forget Jack was 'molded' to be the man he is today. The only thing he has of value in his life is his patriotism to his country. He's lost his wife, a daughter who will not talk to him, a brother and father who turned their backs on the country, numerous friends and colleagues who have died, two years of torture in China. Without his strong belief in his country he probably would have swallowed his gun by now.
But the second half of this show is going to be interesting to see who follows their beliefs and morality more when the White House is taken by the enemy. That is the true patriotic symbol to Americans. That's what I like about this show it screams right in your face "What would you do?" And usually there is no correct choice without major consequences.

Last nights episode(13)... positively awesome. Easily the best yet imo. I was on the edge of my seat when jack did his plan to try and save the president.

And OMG they killed Bill!
I can't believe the pace of the show this season. Nothing seems to be dragged out it's just go, go, go!
And did I ever read Bill Buchanan's character this season wrong! Wow what he did was unbelievable but his death made Walker do a 180 degree turn on her opinion of Jack's character. I'm glad she is still going to be in play but on the rogue side. I thought Larry Moss might have changed his mind as well and started co-operating with Jack when he went against the VP's order to stand down. Then he went right back into douche mode after the fighting was over.
Soo when's Tony getting back into the mix?

I don't mind saying that at 8:11 I was close to tears. It was the silent clock that choked me up more than anything!

I'm glad that Bill was in the season because initially the actor said he wouldn't, so at least they gave him a great, heroic, send off.

I did get a giggle from the 'Shut up, senator' line from Bauer.

This season is not showing any signs of slowing down at all.
I love it.:dancing:

I KNOW! Crazy. He really did go out as a legend though. I mean seriously, killing himself to save the president.

I must admit though the whole alienate Bauer thing is a little annoying. I want, at least SOMEONE to recognize how awesome he is and how everything he has done is the reason why the country is still standing. I mean, considering what he did in this episode alone (saving the president) would be enough to get him off for everything in the real world.

And yet again they throw us the Bauer is the suspect angle, they need a better way to put him in jeopardy. Having said all that ha, its still an awesome show and that last episode showed me why I love 24 so much.

And what's up with the the President's daughter? Seems like she's getting set up to be the next Sherry Palmer in the 24verse...chewing out what's-his-face...the President's Chief of Staff or whoever he is. A major power struggle in the making there.

I'm gonna miss Bill. We need more Chloe and Tony.

I don't know I think Ethan is dodgy, I mean his timing to leave the Whitehouse was perfect.

I don't know that I trust him at all and I think Olivia is gonna rumble him.

Oh yea! As soon as they introduced him I thought that. Which is why I figured he wont be....

A lot of TV shows throw those subtle hints in(like Ethan often doing things outside of the presidents loop) and then sieze upon them as the 'big twist' but 24 is one of the few shows who puts a little faith in the audience and genuinely surprises us.

I think Ethan appears to have a bad side to him but the fact that he's having Jack do what necessary goes in his favour. One has to ask how the bad guys knew every detail of Jacks interrogation though. Love it!

Well quite - which would be the biggest surprise for 24?
Ethan being the bad guy or him not?

After 6 years of being told the obvious one isn't, we're predisposed to say he isn't so imagine them making him the villain.

I wouldn't mind if Larry was the villain or killed off - bores me, except for that one shiny moment when he disregarded orders and stormed the White House.

considering his character has now been given the responsibility of either trusting jack or going after him, im guessing Larry should get a little more interesting
Silum agrees: considering his character has now been given the responsibility of either trusting jack or going after him, im guessing Larry should get a little more interesting

I would like to agree with you BUT the fact is in 13 episodes he's had 1 flash of being almost interesting - it rarely takes 24 this long to make a character interesting if not either likeable/unlikeable.

Anyway, one thing that I just realised, its the last time we see Tony Todd.

He is one of my favourite actors, honestly I would rather have had his character, Juma, than Dubaku.

Dubaku was alright but I'm watching 'The Shroud of Rahmon' right now and this just helps me realise how great an actor Todd is.

I don't think I have seen him in a film or a TV show I didn't like him in - I'm not a fan of the Klingons but his turn as Kurn (hehe rhymes) was always great.

As much as the Larry Moss character is a douche bag and most of us would like to see him get his smarmy arse handed to him. His character is the 'liberal' conscious of law enforcement, where he staunchly believes America can win the war on terror without torture or reacting on unconfirmed leads. And the senator is the liberal conscious of the government.
As for Ethan he isn't a bad guy. He was away from the Whitehouse because the President wanted a familar face in the room when her husband woke up, if I remember correctly. I think Olivia ripping him a new one was totally justified. How the hell does all this corruption exist in her cabinet and her chief of staff misses it? Let's say Olivia is looking to hold her own Senate hearing without all the fanfare.
Voight (the new bad guy) had the secret service in his back pocket and that is how he was getting real time updates on people in the Whitehouse and information being passed back and forth. Chloe or Janis have to go thru the secret service computer system to cut off that line of info. I think that's how they might get a lead on the whereabouts of Voight in the show.

Good episode. This has been the best season in quite awhile Bill's death didn't shock me though. For a couple years now, I've just kind of taken it for granted that characters in 24 not only can die, but will die. I mean the show was willing to kill David Palmer, Michelle Dessler, Nina Meyers, Sherry Palmer, George Mason....almost every great character from the early seasons (even Tony was technically killed off once, even if they sort of bought it back). No reason to think Bill would be above some killin'. The only deaths that would really shock me would be Jack or Chloe (and maybe not even Chloe since her part has been so small this season and Tony is back thus there's still another long-time favorite besides Jack). Of course, while it would be shocking to kill Jack, that would also be the end of 24. I guess I'd also be shocked if they brought Kim back and killed her, since I think she's still a big part of why Jack continues to fight for his country.

DAM! Just as Jack and the Senator were on the same wavelength...3 gunshots centermass and Jack is now public enemy #1! This show is just not slowing down at all and I love it! It is so hard to get a handle on the plot(s) this year that as soon as you think what is going to happen the show takes a hard turn.
Ethan and Olivia look like they are about to go into the octogon and knuckle up. I know I don't have a good record this year on characters but there is something totally suspicious about Olivia, what is her secret agenda? Is she truly protecting her mother or is she elbowing her way to the top of her mother's cabinet?
I was wondering when Tony was going to get back into the show. It is going to be interesting when Jack finally puts together who Tony was working for during those bad years.
Ten hours left in the day, time to buckle up.

They're killing off the most interesting characters and this show is still hot. I totally didn't see the death of the senator coming. I was just starting to like that guy. I was thinking "Hey, this guy is complex", then 'blooey'.

Sheesh, is even Chloe safe this season.

I think Chloe will be safe this season because they need at least ONE character for the last season...don't they? lol.

I'm now convinced that Tony is gonna die by the end of this season and it will be Jack that kills him.

For every other season I usually hate that I have to wait a week, but I gotta say, the adrenaline rush on this one, if I was watching on DVD would probably kill me!

I wish they hadn't killed the Senator though!

That was a very stange move. If anything i would have expected him to 'come around' to what Jack does and realize its use in the world. Considering his role in the trial, it makes the trail at the end of the 'day' a little less meaningful not having the senator there.

I did enjoy this episode but I thought it was yet again an annoying attempt to separate Jack. He's so misunderstood over the last 7 years that at some point, its about time he is finally...understood.

Jack is a hero, him saving and protecting presidents should alone be enough to satisfy this but instead I feel like im being forced to watch a man burn at the stake... sure, i know things will eventually work out but it doesn't make the witch hunt any less painful to watch.

While I agree almost absolutely, one has to wonder how great the show would be if he had everyone on his side.

Having said that, I was hoping that the Senator would survive, or be in critical and unable to talk, just so in a few hours time he can tell the President that Bauer is working for them.

Mind you, up to this episode I was really hoping for a great ig Bauer/Senator stand off in the finale episode in the courtroom.

That would have been a neat twist to have all the action done by hour 23 and in the last one just have Bauer, not defending himself necessarily, but just laying it on the line why he is necessary.
