'24' (Spoilers for UK)

I thought it was a weak effort for a finale...yet strangely im more excited to see its next (and final) season more than ever. They are a smart bunch those 24 writers.

I am the same, I am really looking forward to next January, but I think thats because this finale was weak.

We know that the show has the potential to be awesome, so to end like that, it was more a regular episode cliff hanger than season ending.
 
Yeah got to agree with you Edmund an absolutely weak finale. But when they had what 3 major terrorist attack scenario's in a 24 hour period how else were they going to end it? Going into the last half-hour I thought what action are they going to come up with to setup season 8 when Jack is a few hours away from death?
So looking back on it the last half-hour was the setup for next season which is going to be bringing down the syndicate. It has to be that because that is what the last 3/4 seasons revolved around. There is going to be the usuals in place but I'll be interested in who the additional cast is going to be? It has the potential to attract a lot of actors who want to be involved in the wrap up of this series.

I'm still disappointed that they didn't get Donald in to play Jacks father, so fingers crossed we can get him.

I also just noticed that I missed Aaron off my list of people I want back next season - I reckon he has earned the position of this presidents chief of security.

It would be a coup if Donald and Shirley Douglas (Keifer's mother) play an aunt and uncle. Would it be too much if the Sheen brothers made a cameo?
Aaron as chief of security is a slamdunk IMO. For what I thought was a courtesy role his story has setup a potentially big story for next season involving the jailed daughter and probably ex-Mr. President husband.
 
Yeah, the Finale pretty much just hit the expected beats. Almost everything that happened was called by somebody on this board or myself as I watched it. Only thing that kind of surprised me was when the First Husband completely sided with Olivia and forced the President into a situation where she lost her entire family. THAT part surprised me, but everything before it involving the daughter was dull & predictable as shit.

Freddie Prinze Jr. is joining the cast of Fox's 24 as a regular, playing Davis Cole, a recently returned Marine who runs CTU Field Ops and wants to follow in Jack Bauer's (Kiefer Sutherland) footsteps, sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

On the real-time drama, whose upcoming eighth season started production Wednesday, Prinze joins fellow new cast additions Anil Kapoor, who plays a Middle East leader; Chris Diamantopoulos, as the president's new chief of staff; and John Boyd as a CTU systems analyst. All of them are regulars, while Jennifer Westfeldt has come aboard as a recurring cast member, playing a journalist.

Also cast as a recurring character on the 20th TV/Imagine series is Nazneen Contractor as Kapoor's daughter.

I need to finish watching this show. I made it as far as season 5, but it's been so long that I forgot where I left off.
 
Oh my God. That's awesome! But, just a "data analyst", not a field agent or terrorist? Bah. I want a Bauer/Starbuck smackdown. Hopefully she gets to do some fun stuff.
 
CTU really does need to start doing better back ground checks or something. It's apparently more difficult for a terrorist to get a job at a fast food joing than it is to get into CTU.
 
^^ She'll probably be a prime suspect at least.

Great to see Kate back. And Kim even if it might not be many episodes. I knew Katee Sackhoff was gonna be in it but had no idea about Freddie Prinz Jr. And since I know Mykelti Williamson (mostly from Midnight Caller) there'll be a lot of familiar faces. 🙂 Can't wait for it to start. But the question as always is if it's better to wait so you can see a lot of episodes in a row or not. It's not easy waiting like that but the show gets even better that way.
