25 Best Whedonverse Episodes per EW

A pretty good list overall, but I would make some changes according to my taste of course.
Switch:
Out of Gas & Our Mrs. Reynolds
Not Fade Away & You're Welcome
Jaynestown & The Wish

Take out The Zeppo & Man on the Street, and replace them with Sanctuary & Awakening. 🙂

Why haven't you watched it? Considering all the answers do you need more reasons before you actually do? Why do you think people still hold a grudge over it being cancelled? No it's not a show everyone will like but neither is Buffy or Angel. Based on the few episodes it got it showed the most potential of all shows in my opinon.
 
The Body being #1 is fine with me.

While not being an eppy that I'd watch repeatedly, the writing/acting was EMMY worthy. Especially SMG and Allison Hannigan.

One of the FINEST HOURS in Whedonverse.
 
A lot of the Firefly & Buffy picks I agree with, but WOW, so little Angel, and the Angel picks they have aren't even that great, IMHO. There would be a lot more Angel on my list. I can't believe "Smile Time" and "I Will Remember You" are on there.

Really? 'I Will Remember You' along with 'Hero' are two of the best Angel episodes ever! IWRY should totally be on there.

And it's not just cos I'm a hardcore Bangel...honest! 😛

How could I forget about 'Hero'! I can't believe there's no 'Hero' on there!!

I know. That's probably the only thing I would argue with! Doyle should be honoured!
Hmm, i think the episode 'Hero' isn't that good of an episode to be honest, but it IS sad at the end, and i did cry the very first time i saw it, and i DO Love Doyle, i was gutted when they killed him off.

I think "I Will Remember You" provides an amazing performance from SMG, and some great character stuff for Angel, but I don't think it''s an amazing episode, nowhere near one of the best. A good episode, sure, but IMHO, incredibly overrated! I'm not a huge shipper, could that be it? And with "Hero", I really like that episode, but it's not one of my favoriteFAVORITES because the parallels to the Holocaust are really, really obvious. They didn't even try to hide it. Also, the demons are giant cheese 😀 I wanted to see "Forgiving", "Inside Out", "Reunion", "Reprise", "Shells", etc. on there to represent Angel.
 
My thoughts on the list:

1. I've never watched Dollhouse, and I probably never will, so I won't comment on their inclusion other than to say they feel forced into the list simply out of the need to have something from all the Joss shows.

2. On the same page, I've never watched Firefly (save for the movie, which I own), but I am fine with the ones listed here as these are the ones that are constantly brought up to me by friends.

3. The treatment of Angel on the list totally baffles me. All of it. Five episodes (which sounds about right, I suppose) of which, four of them are from Season Five?! HUH?!! I can forgive the inclusion of the shippers wet dream "I Will Remember You", if only because it sets the tone of Angel having to be willing to give up happiness on any level to really redeem himself, but to not include anything from Seasons 2-4? Ludicrous. Anything that purports to be the Best of Whedon including Angel and doesn't contain mention of either the Angelus arc of Season 4 or the misanthropic dark Angel arc from Season 2 isn't worth the web space it's written on.

4. I'm fine with the absence of Becoming because the list still includes both Passion and Innocence. If you are going to sum up the Season 2 Buffy/Angel arc, then those episodes work just fine without including Becoming, which contains the "Buffy leaves town" segment that only hampers everything else.

5. I'd have put Restless higher, but that's just me. There was real art involved in that one, and I still think it represents the pinnacle of Joss' writing. Is it really that difficult to write about teen angst in regards to sex (like Innocence) as compared to pulling off surrealism in what is ostensibly a teen drama show? I don't think so.

Thank you! I completely agree with Angel comments. If the majority of your "best Angel episodes" are from Season 5, you are in trouble! haha

Ignoring Angel's second, third and fourth seasons is strange. I mean, granted, I think Smile Time is superb and I have to disagree a little with the season five bashing, but by ignoring those three seasons means that the list is missing out on Are You Now, or Have You Ever Been, Lullaby, Spin the Bottle, Waiting in the Wings, need I go on?
 
The Zeppo is an awesome episode! It's Xander-centric with a kick ass tiny apocalypse to deal with? What's not to love? 😉
 
Oh God. Don't get me started on The Zeppo. It's probably in my top three least favorite Buffy episodes of all time. How in the world could the Buffy writers make an apocalypse indescribably boring? Well, The Zeppo answers that perfectly.
