3D vs 2D Your Opinion

I think it's pretty cool but in the end it's not really necessary.

And they absolutely need to get rid of the glasses somehow for it to work in the long term.

I do agree that it is overused and I can't wait for this trend to die out but I do think 3D technology has improved greatly over the past few years and will continue to improve. (Don't know that I will ever be a big fan of 3D)

Personally I find wearing the glasses uncomfortable so I don't see movies in 3D nor would I ever feel the need to purchase a 3D TV or DVD player.

And for those who say, "Give it time, they're still just getting started," I saw 3D movies over 40 years ago, and they haven't improved a bit from then until now. Maybe the new process is simpler or easier to project, or some such, but the end product underwhelmed me then, and it still does today.

But up until then and now, you could not watch 3D without affecting the integrity of 2D, so you had to sacrifice clarity for the 'gimmick;' as newer technologies emerge it is becoming more integrated and seamless. It changes how you view 3D, and I am sure it will change what you think of it.. you wont 'notice' it as much.

Forget about 3D... 4D is totally kick-ass! if anyone has an opportunity to, whilst visiting a museum, zoo, etc to check out a 4D movie they are quite fun.

5D is where it's really at... the only drawback is you need to be administered a series of intravenous drugs to get back to reality afterwards.

I have to say, there's nothing more awful than adding 3D to a movie post-production... forcing it on to a movie that wasn't filmed with 3D in mind. There has never been a post-production 3D movie that didn't suck hard.

They were threatening to do that to "Cabin in the Woods." I sincerely hope they don't (if the movie ever even gets released.)

Incidentally, I have read that "John Carter Of Mars," the story that I've been wanting to see made into a movie for the last 40 years, will be released in 2012 using the same technology that was used in "Avatar," including being made in 3D. For that one, I will endure the most blinding migraine ever suffered by man. (And if it doesn't live up to or even surpass my expectations, I will personally obliterate Pixar Studios from the face of the planet)

i really dont enjoy 3D films because its distracting from the story and the characters, plus it gives me a headache
i did however love the first thing i ever saw in 3D which was a little show called 'Honey I Shrunk The Audience' in Disney Land Paris - i was about seven and i thought it was incredible

You know, the one and only time I saw a 3D movie...Yes, it was cool, but I walked out of there with a MASSIVE headache. I haven't been able to pinpoint the reason, but I was in pain.

As far as actually converting movies to 3D and such, well, it has gotten to a point where it is unnecessary. Period. Some animated films and the like I can understand....But when you're getting into live action movies as being 3D, it is definitely overboard. Saw is an example that comes to mind...Even dance movies they are putting in 3D. Uhh...What was it....Step Up 3 or some crap they did it to? No thanks.

My real world is real enough that I don't need my escape world to try and be anymore really real than it really is. I, for one, wouldn't want to see Buffy the Vampire Slayer: 3D!

I think too many films fall into the trap of if it is in 3D they must put something pointing out of the screen every scene. In those cases, the 3D becomes a liability. However, my partner and I went to the cinema to see the recent remake of "Clash of the titans." I didn't like the film itself, but found that its use of 3D was much better than I expected and wasn't really about trying to poke the audience in the eye. So, if done correctly 3D can be a good thing, but 9 out of 10 of the films at the moment aren't getting it right and are too hung up on the gimmick.

When its used as a medium in which to better tell the story it is a very good thing. I would say it's better than 9 out of 10 though. The problem is the movies that make best use of 3D are the 'all ages' movies.

I love 3D and movies, like Avatar, can be very spectacular with it. I've never gotten a headache from watching one, either. It's too bad so many people gets sick watching them, I couldn't enjoy one with that distraction either. It's becoming relentless and some movies use it as a gimic which is a shame because it drowns the films that really work it well into the sea of lame 3D. I liked Bloody Valentine in 3D, didn't like Saw 3D. Toy Story 3 didn't need 3D and I barely noticed it. Parana 3D would've been dope. I've never seen Friday the 13th Part 3 (I think) in 3D, though I'd love to!

4D is super fun.

Titanic is to be re-released in 3D on the anniversary of the ship's last voyage, in April 2012. I wonder if they can pull it off. I'm gonna check it out. I'd also go see Avatar again if it were in theatres, I thought it was visually spectacular.

I don't want it to become the norm for anything that's not a rom-com but I really like it when it's used smartly. It's fun!

Yeah, the original Part 3D. I've never heard about part 2 being in 3D.

i remember when it first made it's rounds in the 90's... anyone else remember the horrific versions of "Freddy's Dead in 3D" and others?

It died quickly then, and i have a feeling it'll die just as quick now...

just feels like another scam by the movie companies to bump up prices on already extortionate movie tickets

I cannot stand watching movies in 3D. I dont like it at all. I find it to be distracting and it just gets annoying.

We should just stick to 2D. So much better!

I personally don't see all the fuss about 3D. I have yet to see a movie that I payed for 3D price to be a real 3D movie. I think for some movies it is good but either way if I miss it doesn't bother me.
