5 Things I don't like about Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I think I agree with most of that, some to a lesser extent. Xander and Anya as a couple have always bothered me. I like them separately but not together. I do not know why he is so in love with her. And yes I thought he was being a hypocrite in Selfless not wanting Buffy to kill Anya. I do like that Buffy reminds him she had to kill Angel and even Anya says that she is just doing her job. Other than Anya being cute and funny I just don't see why he loves her so much. And her obsession with him is annoying.
One thing I don't like is the First arc in season 7. Very poorly executed idea.

I agree totally with the first four on your blog.

But the whole 'Empty Places' thing...I'm in two minds. I don't think that it just suddenly happened, I think the vineyard was the catalyst, but the whole question of Buffy-leadership had been building since 'Get It Done'. And Buffy being estranged from her friends had been happening all season, unfortunately. 🙁

I agree that Buffy shouldn't have been kicked out, and that everybody handled it badly, but her plan and the reasoning for the plan was utterly ludicrous as I heard it. They'd all sent Spike away to get intelligence on Caleb, so to go charging in and not expect the same result- isn't that the definition of insanity? 🙄
Just because the writers decided she was right doesn't mean her plan wasn't suicidal, it just means the First was truly, deeply stupid, or possibly just insanely overconfident that it couldn't be beaten.

Good list, and I agree with most of this.

5. I feel Willow's redemption does get short-changed in favor of the potentials and Kennedy in season seven. It is rather hard to believe that Willow could get past everything that happened and be 100% herself, let alone start a relationship with Kennedy. I wish we could have seen more of her coping at least. But the scene where she visits Tara's grave in "Help" is beautiful.

4. I agree 100%. I love Riley too, but it is hard to feel much sympathy for him towards the end. Buffy's mom has a tumor and dies later on from it, yet he feels Buffy should have gone to him? Geez, leave her alone. Buffy's trying her best to keep everything together.

3. I agree and disagree with this. Dawn had understandable problems in Season 5. In season 6, she did become more annoying. I did often wonder why she whines all the time about being left alone. Doesn't she have her own friends? And her catchphrase "get out, get out GET OUT!!!" is annoying. However, I honestly love her in Season 7.

2. This, 100%. Xander was such a hypocrite in "Selfless." Angel was the love of Buffy's life, yet she still did what she had to do. Anya killed who knows how many people, yet because Xander still has feelings for her, Anya should be allowed to live? I also agree about the Willow and Oz thing. I'm not saying two wrongs make a right, but I just lose sympathy for her with the whole Oz-Veruca thing.

1. Oh god, don't get me started. I hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE that scene in "Empty Places." It just infuriates me to no end. I know Buffy made a mistake the first time at the vineyard, but they have to know she wouldn't be so stupid to do the whole thing again. Plus, she was getting desperate and time was running out when they went to the vineyard the first time. I think only Faith and Dawn (I think Dawn knew Buffy needed to get out by that point) came out okay in that scene. The rest, ugh. Anya especially ticks me off in this scene for some reason. I agree with Buffy, why WAS she even there?! What did she really do?! Ugh! That scene just bugs me. 😡
