Anybody else into Eurovision? Its kinda got a cult following in Aus and SBS screened the 50th Anniversary show tonight. All the usual kitsch, the English voiceover guy (Terry Wogan?) was hilarious as always...

I thought ABBA's Waterloo was the most obvious choice for best song of all time, but I liked Eres tu. Save Your Kisses For Me is squirm inducing.

Did anybody know Johny Logan was born in Australia? Hold Me Now is okay but reminds me of awkward under-18 discos and big and bad hair.

You gotta speed it up, and then you gotta slow it down
cos' if you believe that our love can hit the top, you gotta play around
and soon you will find that there comes a time, for making your mind up

You gotta turn it up, and then you gotta cool it down
you gotta be sure that its something everybodys gonna talk about
before you decide the time is right, for making your mind up

Don't let your indecision take you from behind
Trust your inner vision
Don't let others change your mind

and now you really gotta burn it up, and make another fly by night
get a run for your money, and take a chance
and it'll turn out right
and when you see how its gotta be, you're making your mind up.

and try to look as if you dont care less, but if you wanna see some more
then the rules of the game, will let you find the one you're looking for
and then you can show you think you know, that you're making your mind up

Don't let your indecision take you from behind
Trust your inner vision
Don't let others change your mind

That's gold, right there
Terry Wogan is Irish, not English.

I'm not a fan of the Eurovision, I make a point of turning the channel everytime it is advertised or airs.
I have the same reaction as Faith to the Euro song contest and, despite finding Terry Wogan very funny, cannot bring myself to watch, kitsch value or not...🙂

...however, I loved the Father Ted ep which was an inspired piss-take on it 🙂

Whoops... Indeed he is Irish. I wasn't thinking when wrote that. Well, if I was it was more about him doing the voiceover for English speakers or something like that.

SBS followed Eurovision with the sensational 1945 version of The Picture of Dorian Gray. So a great night in was had by all.
