Now if someone else posted this please forgive me or re-direct it, which ever you wish. Can someone tell me what the heck is 5x5? I have watched EVERY single episode and nothing has jumped out at me. I was thinking...maybe her fav number is five (like mine) but she also likes 10, so she would have to take 2 fives to make 10, ok so retarted I know, but I cant think of anything better. Please help. 🙂 :end:

Five by five means that things are good. It is lingo used by the military, radio operators, and pilots about how good/bad a radio signal is, in regards to volume and clarity, on a scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best). So, five by five, means the best possible. So when someone asks Faith how she is? She's telling them she's 'as good as can be'.

Why she says that, it's up for debate, but the general consenus is that she had a decent father figure in her life that used that term, and she just picked it up.

Maybe she dated someone who was in the military? Or, maybe she picked that up from her watcher? I don't really see why it had to be a father figure. It could have been her crazy neighbour "one eyed Joe" who run around the neighbourhood, butt naked, screaming "I'm five by five" and Faith thought it was so amusing, she just had to start using that term. Kind of like a tribute to old crazy Joe.

Its most likely just something that she picked up....Is it a saying in Boston or something.....or some form of Rhyming Slang...i dont know...Five by Five - Alive....meaning ok....

yeah, they probably did...every episode title is said by someone in that ep...but i find it interesting that in the Angel ep 'five by five' it ISN'T faith who says the words, her own catchphrase...it's Angel.

That's probably it. Knowing Faith, she picked it up from some crazy on the street. Or quite possibly just made it up out the blue. She felt like saying it, and it stuck!
