6 Actresses Who Could Play Buffy The Vampire Slayer In Film Reboot

Emilia Clarke or Mila Kunis for me.

EDIT

Jennifer Lawerence too.

I like a lot of the actresses mentioned but as Buffy....HELL NO!

Actually, I'll second Kean, Jennifer Lawrence would be a good choice. She can pull off the humor of Buffy and would rock the serious scenes.

I haven't heard of most of those actresses and they're all a bit "meh" for Buffy. I do like the Jennifer Lawrence suggestion. I haven't seen THG, but liked her in Silver Linings Playbook.

Gotta figure they will be playing a 16 year old girl most likely so you would have to count out Lawrence, Kunis (who looks so different than SMG that you know every fan would complain no matter how good of a job she did), Chelan Simmons, and maybe even Emilia Clarke. Agron, Browning, and Ronan I think can pull off the younger look still while still giving us the classic pretty blonde Buffy we know and love.

Ive never heard of Imogen Poots before but I really like her look and description! Otherwise I'm not sure I cared much for the list... I didn't dislike the actresses they were just kind of... Blank in my mind.

I'm not a big fan of the Chelan girl, contrary to them I think Dianna is a very weak actress and the Emily girl look strange to me...like cosmetically altered and not successfully. That said I know nothing about her and haven't seen Sucker Punch so I could be way wrong. As for Saiorise I love her, she's brilliant, and while the idea of her as Buffy intrigues me I can't help but feel like she doesn't have the right look for the role for me 🙂

I love Emily Browning but she does have a very specific/odd look and I think is limited in her roles, not sure she'd be a match for Buffy
I do understand why people talk about Jennifer Lawrence and I wouldn't be against the idea but... Maybe it's just because she's actually closest to the real Buffy... I'm just not sure about it.

Ashley Benson could be a good idea, for a Cordelia or Buffy S1-like reboot. Otherwise she'll need to lose the "pretty and rich" attitude she always seems to have in roles.

I would have to see Emily Browning in action (yeah I know, still haven't seen sucker punch) to comment about her.

The others are definitely a no.

I dont recognise any of these names *goes back to hide under her rock*

hahaha nice. I only remember the last blonde chick because she died topless in a tanning bed in one of the final destination movies haha

This made me die of laughter, now I definitely don't ever want her playing Buffy!!
Since I'm one of very few people who liked Sucker Punch, I'm completely behind Emily Browning for it - I don't care if she looks like Sarah or not - why that should be a consideration is beyond me, but she's a good actress and can really pull off the action, so sign me up for that idea.

You get some karma for liking Sucker Punch!

I only say the actress not looking like SMG would be an issue because of the huge following this show has. People never like when there are huge changes. You telling me you wouldnt think it would be weird if Buffy were like Latina or African american in a remake? I mean I wouldnt have an issue so much but im hardly an extreme Buffy fan.

Emilia Clarke would actually be very good. I'd watch the reboot just for her. She's fast becoming a favourite actress of mine.

My choice

Chloà« Grace Moretz I think would be the perfect choice to play Buffy, she's the right age and has done fighting in films before. She does look like Sarah Michelle Gellar in some aspects and I think she can imitate her personality.

I would definitely way rather have an actress that can pull off Buffy's personality than a clone of SMG.

Completely agreed. I think it would bother me actually if they were too similar to SMG.
I guess I'm one of the few who, though I absolutely love and adore Emilia Clarke, could just not picture her as a good Buffy at all. Partly I think she's too grown up for it.

I know of Diana! *proud* I might have heard the names of the others but nothing that stuck.

Honestly I can't see why anyone would want a clone of Sarah. Each to their own though. The movie won't be like the tv-show and although I'd like to see some traits remaining of the character I want a different take on both her and the story. The problem is that if they change too much fans will be upset because "It's not the Buffy we know and love." If on the other hand they do her like in the show the same people will probably call it a rip-off and a lack of imagination. Because lets face it, the movie has too be beyond good to satisfy most of the old fans.

Personally, I don't really care what they do relative to appearance or such as long as the character is still recognizable as Buffy - not physically, but in characterization. It would be weird, but as long as it's good, it doesn't really matter.

If Buffy was going to be rebooted I'd hope they would go in a different direction and not try to redo what has already been done very well. The last thing anyone should do is try to emulate SMG. There is no way for it to succeed. SMG is iconic in her portrayal of Buffy. Why labour a project with that. I'd look for ways to flip the story, perhaps a version where Buffy never left L.A. Whatever it would be, it could never be the show as we know it.

However, I insist that if it verse is ever brought back to the screen, Idris Elba must be Giles/Buffy's new watcher.
