7.05 "Selfless" Official Discussion Thread (UPN-US)

I loved how they touched on things that had happened ages ago - like Willow summoning D'Hofryn with the talisman he gave her in S4, and Xander FINALLY getting called on the carpet for his FLAT OUT LYING to Buffy about what Willow had told him about Angel in S2.

I don't think we've seen the last of Halfrek despite the fact that she was killed. There was a definite Spike/Halfrek (at the time Cecily) connection, so she may now become a vision to him via the shapeshifter? Possibly she's the one who will tell him something? Like why she was so mean to him back in mortal England - maybe she was already a vengeance demon? We'll have to see how that unfolds.

And back to Xander. Has anyone besides me noticed that he only seems to be in love with and want the women he knows he can't have!! He's still all nasty and jealous about Buffy/Angel and Buffy/Spike. He still pines for Willow. Now that Anya's a vengeance demon, he says he loves her. But where exactly was he when he was supposed to be getting married. When he was finally going to GET the girl? He freaked out. He couldn't handle it and he took off.

Finally, the kick ass fight between Buffy and Anya. Buffy was pretty resolved to killing Anya don't you think? Like Xander said, she didn't even think about it for ten seconds. Okay, so Buffy replied that she'd thought about it alot before. Before what? Before a long time ago? Or before meaning AAFTER she saw Spike and Anya do the horizontal table dance? Did the green eyed monster of jealousy rear it's pretty little blonde head? Hmmm?

i dont think they explained the bunny situation either. perhaps they will later. i absolutely loved when anya was in her wedding dress singing her heart out to the camera and then *bam* she pinned to the wall with a sword. very well done and visually jarring. this "from beneath you it devours thing has me on the edge of me seat! and i liked how d'hoffryn said to willow "that wasnt the old you i felt earlier?" i did get a little freaked when she killed the spidery thingy

Yes, I'm not liking the Grr-face changes. And I do suspect (and hope) the Angel-"kick his ass"-Xander-lying thing will eventually be confronted fully. They should go back to things that happened in the first 3 or 4 Seasons more often.

I liked the way they cut to her impaled on a sword too. Very remeniscant of what they did in 'The body' with a festive dinner cutting to: BOOM Joyce's dead body.

I ::heart:: 'ed this episode! It was just a great all-around episode. Emma got her chance to shine which is such a great thing. I especially loved the musical flashback 😀

I loved the musical number, absolutely, but did anyone else immediately think that was made for OMWF and cut, only to reappear now?

I also agree with everyone who doesn't like to new grr faces. Did we lose the right make-up artist?

Yeah I thought of that too. And then I was thinking that Anya's hair wasn't like that in the original ep. But I could be wrong about that.

I absolutely loved the episode! (like a lot of other people 😀 ) But is it just me or was it really sad in the end where Anya and Xander went separate ways? I thought the acting was wonderful, especially Emma.

I also hope Xander is confronted again about the "kick his ass" message. I was so furious when that happened in season 2 and Xander deserves to get a beating for it now. I thought it was really great how Buffy touched on how she had to kill Angel.

"From beneath you it devours" is really keeping me on the edge of my seat! D'Hoffryn is a big guru, and even he mentioned it to Willow... But Spike is just annoying. I wish he would stop being so pathetic and make himself useful!

what other 'grr faces' have changed besides anya's? the vampire faces looked the same to me :\

and anya's hair wasn't exactly the same as in the musical.. but close enough.

okay, i watched that scene form 'beneath you' again.. i see a slight difference. i didn't really notice when i first saw it.
anya's demon face is completely different than it used to be though.

quote: "Halfrek dead?! I agree with Buffy Summers. Why mention the Spike/ Halfrek relationship and then not elaorate on it to explain."

well - don't know that they need to explain it - as Halfrek was the woman Spike loved and wrote all that "bloody awful poetry" to - before he became a vampire. in fact - she said that he was "beneath her" and then he stormed out and was made a vamp by Drusila. this was an episode back in Season 5.

it would be interesting to know how Halfrek became a vengeance demon - what led her to feeling betrayed by a man (especially after how she treated William).

mmmdonuts : Xander was on his way to find Buffy when she was going to face Angelus - and Willlow told Xander to tell Buffy to keep Angel distracted while she performed the soul spell ( or whatever it was called) but he didn't tell her he just told her to "Kick his ass" Willow never mentioned it and neither did Xander or Buffy so its kinda just be lying there for ages, hope you understand that cos looking at it i don't - lol ::wave::

I never noticed the "Kick his Ass" part, it's been a long while since I last saw season 2, so maybe that's why. But can someone please tell me the name of Anya's song, and is it available for d/load allready?
