7.05 "Selfless" Official Discussion Thread (UPN-US)

Wow, this was definitly the best episode of the new season so far. ^_^ It definitly helps that it was Anya-centered and that Anya is my favorite character. I love the parts with her past although I didn't get why she was afraid of bunnies. Maybe because bunnies remind her about what happened in the past? ^_^ It was great to see the old Anya was so different and yet similar to the one we have now, she wanted to give away free bunnies (and considering her love for money now that 's really weird) but she was also apparently still blunt about things.

I was really surprised about Buffy in this episode, it seems like Buffy is getting more and more cut off from her emotions. Her split second decision to kill Anya seem to captialize this, she had no idea what Anya was going through or whether or not Anya could be redeemed. She hadn't even talked to Anya before she decided to go off and kill her. And her reasoning was that Anya was a demon and demons should be killed. Plus her 'I am the Law' comment sounded a lot like what Faith told her about slayers being the law in season three. I'm not really liking this progression for Buffy. I seems like she's turning into pure slayer mode. Even in Spike's little vision you see dream Buffy in her white shirt being kind and caring and then Real!Buffy comes in in her black shirt and is pretty cruel to Spike.

Loved the mention of the 'Kick his ass' line and the mentioning of Angel. ^_^ I can't wait to see if that line will be addressed in future episodes. 🙂 Loved the musical part with Anya, it was very powerful when it cut out to her stuck on the wall with the sword.

Anyway this post is *way* to long and if anyone has read it I would be really surprised.

Your right on everybody forgetting Anya's opinion. But Buffy was right, finally you have me agreing. Anya is demon, Buffy a slayer. Buffy kills Anya. I really felt bad for Buffy (and I really don't like the character), it gives us really something to think about. A story always has more than one side. I mean I really feel bad, for Adam, Glory and Warren, they weren't all that bad! (Although the Warren killing Tara still pissed me off) But anyway, I 'm drifting away ... the case just isn't that simple, you can't just say: "Ow, Buffy is right she should kill Anya" but neither can you say, "Ow, Anya is Buffy's friend, how can she be so unsenstive?"

well - don't know that they need to explain it - as Halfrek was the woman Spike loved and wrote all that "bloody awful poetry" to - before he became a vampire. in fact - she said that he was "beneath her" and then he stormed out and was made a vamp by Drusila. this was an episode back in Season 5.

it would be interesting to know how Halfrek became a vengeance demon - what led her to feeling betrayed by a man (especially after how she treated William).

I don't think it's a matter of explaining it, but rather addressing it.

Loved the ep and I'm noticeing most of you did as well 🙂 Totally funny and still had me on the edge of my seat with the issues. I thought it was good that they showed willow using the magic that is now a part of her. Some people where asking about this and if she hadn't fixed that magic use thing in England. But the magic is still part of her - she just has to control it. I think she acted completely on instinct which is why the badness part really showed through - it wasn't really a concious effort to use her magic in a certain way - the spider was there and she instictively protected herself and the girl. It's interesting how Willow and Anya can relate to each other so much now - especially since they used to 'hate' each other. The scene from Anya's past was great! hahah. Interesting to know that she used to love bunnies.

It was just a great ep!

She's not specialized in Man, that's just Anya's take. Hallie was specialized in Children!

omg.... when i read the eps transcript i was like drugged. it was the best b/a refererrence after the screenoff meeting! i called five friends, screamed a lot, and to one of them i laughed in the phone for 5 minutes so he would understand how great it is😛

Ow that thing, but Willow really cheered her up, but didn't encourage her however!

In Becoming pt 2, Willow told Xander to go tell Buffy that she was going to do the spell. When Xander found Buffy, he told her that Willow said "Kick his a--"

In Selfless, Buffy reminded both of them of this, not knowing that Willow never said that. It's a whole miscommunication thing that I hope comes up again later.

I doubt I'm telling, or reminding, you of anything you don't know...we just seem to have our wires crossed.

Know but well you were previoudly talking about cheering up instead of engouraging, but don't you think they sorted that out yet !?!?!

i have read one fic based on the b/a reference, my fave website has a new layout based on it and the webmaster's e-mail's sig is based on it🙂
