I don't understand... Did people not watch the show? How could she not have won any Emmys? I constantly watch episodes and just wonder how the heck she didn't win any...

Exactly. She should've won for Innocence. She should've won for Becoming. She should've won for The Body. She should've won for the majority of season 6. The Emmy's are always prejudice against supernatural type shows. In their eyes, fantasy series doesn't carry much weight like the more "realistic" dramas. It's a shame. But at least SMG got nominated for a Golden Globe. Hey, it's something right? 😛

"The Wire" also won no Emmys. This fact and the snubbing of BtVS pretty much tell you everything you need to know about this stupid award.

Emmy's aren't for people who just cry, which was the most depth of character complexity SMG offered. That's not Emmy worthy.

I dont remember the show winning any, but im sure it did.. probably some make-up/sfx or something. I recall Joss being up for a few for the writing of OMWF and Hush but didn't win either. I'm not sure if Buffy was the type of show that set up its actors for emmy's however I can't deny that they still could have won 😛

Sarah is a great actress; I strongly disagree that her complexity was limited to when she cried on screen.
The show did win an Emmy, btw..... Several, in fact.

Why does IMDB not list The Gift as having won an Emmy while Wikipedia does? TV.com says this "award" was just a fan poll and I don't think there is even an Emmy award category called "Most Memorable Moments in a Drama Series". Some overzealous fan edited the wiki article, I guess. 🙂

So which Buffyverse actors did better than her (if any)? I don't think she was the best actor in the show but I really disagree that she was good at just crying.

People seem to focus so intently on that though. I'd say Eliza Dushku. I felt like she gave the character of Faith such a dark complexity that I don't think would've been there otherwise. The seemingly twistedly evil girl, with subtle cracks of humanity shining through. I think she portrayed it astonishingly. That's just me though.

totally. Eliza IS Faith.

Actually that was true. The Emmy's did have that as a category back in 2008, but that part in the telecast got cut out. A lot of sources other than wiki says so too, because we all know Wiki is a boatload of reliable. 🙄

The SHOW won emmy's. Not SMG.

Yeah, I know the show won an Emmy for Outstanding Hairstyling, if you can believe it. For Beer Bad, out of all episodes. (Although the curly thing looks pretty good on SMG). And Hush got nominated too. OMWF got nominated, but the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences didn't include the title in the ballots. What a surprise.

The same reason so many movies get snubbed for the Oscars. The people voting are biased toward certain genres that THEY deem worthy of winning. Who cares anyway? Personally I consider BtVS and Angel as some of the best shows that have been made in the past 20 years, and some of the actors in it (namely SMG, Alexis, ASH, JM and CC) had amazing performances. 🙂

I don't know, I don't think the actors were really emmy winning kinda stuff.

Just looked it up there and The West Wing was on when buffy was and got best drama through allot of the years Buffy was on, and Allison Jenny won lead actress, and I don't think Buffy would have stood a chance in winning, or SMG who's acting ability is kinda pale, especially compared to Jenny and the character she was playing in West Wing

Never saw it, but I'm sure you're right. As SMG isn't that great.

SMG has won an Emmy for All My Children. Does it mean she's a good actress? No. Does her not being recognized for Buffy mean she's a bad actress? No.

Awards exist only as marketing tools anyway, to advertise on posters and trailers that "Academy Award/Emmy Winning (or Nominee) Writer/Actor/Director/" has worked on a project, for instance. They're fun to watch and it's an honour to be recognized for work but take it with a grain of salt; there's plenty of politics that go on behind the glitz and glamour of what you see on the televised ceremony. 🙂

The Emmys pretty much suck. I don't think The Body was even nominated...Hush was, which is interesting, seeing as that episode is more "paranormal" err something. A lot of really great shows/actors/actresses have never been nominated.
