Time to discuss this classic Spike related episode. What are your favorite parts of this episode? Favorite quotes?

My favorite part of the episode was the end, because it's so tragic with all the girls feeling betrayed, and shows that even though you feel alone, there are always people around you that can relate. Also, I remember watching the episode and thinking it wasn't too deep or anything, but after watching all the way through, I realized that it actually offered a lot of insight to relationships and their dynamics, as well as gender roles in those. I really liked it.

I love this episode, even if I try to ignore Buffy and her pining over Parker. It made her seem so weak.

Seeing Spike again was so great! Season 4 isn't the best, but Spike's general presence lifts it a lot. And then seeing the Spike and Harmony relationship for the first time was so funny. I always wondered how they ended up together. That's a flashback I'd like to see. 😛
 
This isn't my favourite episode of season four, not by a long shot, but it is enjoyable however.

It's great seeing Spike back, and i completely agree with Bluebie in the sense that he brings something to the show and lifts it. Also pairing him with Harmony is by far one of the funniest ships.
I just don't like the Parker arc at all, but i do understand why it was put it.
 
I agree Christine, Buffy and the whole Parker saga seemed very out of character for her, but I understood what the writers were doing. Sadly, it's a part of the college experience for a LOT of people to hop into bed too fast with someone and then it not work out. 🙁

I love this episode. Harmony was hilarious, and Spike's interaction with her was highly entertaining for me. 😉
 
I'm watching this episode as we speak. Leading the discussion gave me an excuse to watch this episode again.

First of, I was like 'yay Oz'...it's been to long since I've seen some Oz. I love it when he looks a Willow with a little 'woo' face when Buffy leaves with Parker. I love Oz.

I forget how many throwbacks this episode has to earlier events in the show; Parker noticing Buffy's scar from Angel, Spike and Willow discussing what happened in Lover's Walk.

LMAO, when Anya walks into Giles' house and says 'you should lock your door' and he replies 'Believe me, I'm kicking myself' and then she tells him to 'Go away.' Ahh, the start of the awesome relationship that Giles and Anya have! 😀

And added bonus, Lucky by Bif Naked features!

I usually say that Season 4 isn't that great of a season, but I think it actually has some pretty good episodes in it.
 
Agreed! I always liked how Buffy says the scar came from an "Angry puppy" 🙂 Ha!

I really didn't care for Parker, and I thought that Buffy had gotten over that insecurity of being in college in the first two episodes, so it was a little weird to see her attach herself to some jerk. I guess she was just trying to get over Angel?

And then in the Angel episode, "In the Dark" when Spike's making fun of Angel... He calls him a big fluffy puppy. =)

Yeah, her being the fish out of water, trying to get into college life and all that - it was the same sort of thing they were trying to do with Buffy and Sunday in The Freshman. But then it continued with Parker, and it annoyed me a little.
 
I love Spike in this (and anything else). His last moments of unadulturated badness, right? But I loathe that he hooked up with Harmony. It's good for a laugh, I suppose but it gives me the willies because I just hate her character. Love that he stakes her.
 
There was some good comedy in this episode, what with Spike barely able to tolerate Harmony one minute and not able to resist her the next. However, while I know that Buffy is human and goes through the same problems everyone else does, this episode made her seem so weak and average. The way she falls all over Parker and follows him around, pouting and waiting for him to call...I just didn't enjoy seeing her that way.
 
Of course return of Anya was good for me and had to feel sorry for Xander....for the alphabet joke (it was funny at surface, but kinda stupid once you start thinking about it).

Parker did not annoy me in this episode. Sure it was not most pleasant experience of her life, but it also was not worst imo.

Harmony and Spike getting together first place is an issue for me somewhat -- Harmony so far been rather self centered and can't see her getting involved with Spike first place. Spike would have had to make initiative for it and with constant moping over Drusilla does not seem likely to me.

Gem of Amara must be one of most overrated artifacts in the show as it was not that special really.
 
And you just gotta love Anya just showing up out of the blue at Xander's house, because she wasn't dealing well with her feelings for Xander. Do you think this was one of her first little turns at understanding human life? She showed it at the end of season three, but maybe more here?

Yeah, I agree. This is definitely where you see Anya beginning to deal with being human. Her little speech to Xander about all her feelings is so cute. And watching Xander squeeze juice out of the carton in shock is always hilarious.

I've always thought that I would have love to have seen Oz and Buffy interact more. The small scenes they share together are so cute, and I just love how Oz knows that the Gem of Amara is going to go to Angel. I don't think I'm explaining this very well, it's just something I love about Oz. He doesn't say much but, he just knows!

What do you guys think?
 
When Anya shows up at Xander's and drops her dress, I never fail to laugh as the juice squirts all over.... Ahhh, gotta love those Buffyverse figuratives. LMAO

I know! Oz is one of my favorite characters, and he only spends his scenes with Willow or onstage. Whenever he does interact, he's with the whole group, so you never really see how he feels about each individual Scooby. =/
