Happened near the site of the WTC. The guy ran over them with a truck. 8 people and 11 injured. When he brandished fake firearms the police killed him.

The term for this is "suicide by police officer," (really, that's not a joke) Some idiot decides to kill himself, and wants to go out with a bang. All that they want is the headlines, the thought that, even though they, themselves will never see it, they will finally achieve their five minutes of notoriety. To my way of thinking, these people are even worse than the classic terrorists, because they don't even have some cause or political statement to make.
