It's that time again. Nine years ago today... I'm so lucky not to have lost anyone that day. It's hard to believe it's been nine years. To all of you who lost someone that day, your loved ones will never be forgotten, and to those of you who helped out, thank you.

I'm so sorry for the people who passed away(May they rest in peace) or lost someone. Time flies so fast and it's 9 years now. I remember feeling like it's the end of the world when I saw the news.

I don't know anybody personally who died on the day, being in another country and all, but I feel deeply sorry for them and their families. May they rest in peace. I still remember waking up to the footage of the planes crashing being played over and over again on the news. I remember watching some program about it on the anniversary and crying so much that my mother made me leave the room. We studied the film United 93 this year at school, and thinking about 9/11 always makes me feel very very sad. I just can't fathom why anyone would do such a thing.

May rest in peace, all the people who are gone. I clearly remember when it all happened even though I'm in another country, it was a life-altering moment. Let's never forget.

I'm not from USA, but I'll never forget seeing that on the news. May all people who died that day rest in peace. I've lighten the candle on my window for them.

That was dreadful, even if I live in Belgium, I will never forget that day!
After school, I was going to the bakkery with my mum and the waitress told us that two planes had crushed into towers.
I was 10, it didn't the make any kind of sense to me. Still doesn't really make any kind of sense now.
Then I saw it on television, on every channel.
Then I locked myself into the bathroom and cried like hell, because I couldn't believe that human kind could be twisted enough to kill so many people in such a horrible way. Of course, I already knew about Hitler and wars and stuff but they all happened way before I was born. 9/11 was the big mass murder that happen in the now of then, you know? It was horrible to understand that the world would never be a place of quiet and peace. The kind of thing I already vaguely knew. But after 9/11, it was a certitude: this world is a living hell.

So, even if I didn't lose anyone in that tragedy, I feel for those who have.
Let those who died that day be at peace.

Oh, I remember that day, I remember being in school when it happened. It was so sad and my cousin moved back here to Connectiicut after the tragedy because he lived in NYC before that and luckily he didn't get killed or injured. I hope the people who died in that building are resting in peace and will be honored. And even though I didn't lose anyone in the the plane crash, it's still very sad to me.

My thoughts go to all the families involved and the people who lost their lives. The people involved were all so courageous especially those who crashed the plane saving others lives in the process and of course the firefighters who gave their own lives to save others.

RIP

I was a freshman in HS at the time and I witnessed the second plane hit the towers...my father and grandfather were sent on the site to rescue, cleaning..I knew a couple people unfortunatelly R.I.P. Thanks for making the thread Zobo

Time really does fly. I remember I was in my freshman year of high school in my spanish class and everyone was watching it on the news. When I got home, everyone was just too shocked. there were really no peole out on the roads. It felt like an apocalypse because everyone was in their homes watching the news. Then my mom told me my uncle was in one of the towers. I didn't know him that well so it didn't really hit me like a ton of bricks or anything. I was really sad though for every single life that was lost. I kept cringing everytime I saw someone jump out of a window. It is still burned in my memory like it was just yesterday. A moment of silence is more than deserved for everyone affected by the attack. RIP

I'm so sorry. :(
I Can't Believe It's Been 9 Years. I Remember We Got Out Of School Early and Watching It On The News.

Nine years... that's a long time wow. I was 16 at the time and I can still remember where I was when I saw the news on tv.

RIP to all the peoples who died that day :angel2:

Everyone needs to watch this. There is no official video for it. But everytime I hear this version of the song, I start crying. Especially when she says "I can visit you in heaven daddy". This little girl really did lose her dad during 9/11.

I dont think anyone will ever forget. People still gather at the World Trade Center Site to remember all the lives lost that day. I cant believe its been nine years. I was 11 when it happened and my school was not too far from it, when they sent us all home I could see people covered in dust, people who had been in the towers. There was so much panic and confusion.

I used to live across the street from a firestation and I was friends with a lot of the firemen. They were nice to me, probably because I was a little kid, but they were nice. They were sent to the site to help rescue people, and a lot of them died.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones that day. And to the firemen and policemen, and all the heroes who went down there to help, risking their lives to save others.
RIP

I'm so sorry Katie :(
I was four when it happened, so I can't say that I remember it at all. Luckily, I didn't know any of the victims, or anyone who lost somebody.

For the past few years, however, I've had to watch a video on it- Watch the collision, the smoke, the terror. It was a true catastrophe.

It was a horrible thing that happened, but it definitely showed how strong our country is, how heroic some of our citizens are, giving up their lives for others, and for our greatest monuments. May all of the victims rest in peace, and be remembered with pride. 🙂

I was in the 5th grade when it happened, and my teacher turned on the tv for us to watch what was going on. After school, I went to my aunt's house, and we skipped homework time and watched the news for a while. I was able to understand what was going on, and I remember being scared, but it didn't hit me quite so hard as it did during the 1-year anniversary. That's when they showed a documentary on tv about it. Somebody had a video camera with them in a building next to one of the towers, and it showed the people running around looking very scared until a loud bang was heard above them, and people would freeze in place, looking up. These noises were later explained to be the people who had jumped out of the buildings. It made me sick to my stomach.

I read a little of Pres. Obama's speech today, and it was quite different from past presidential speeches given. Here's a transcript and video if anyone's interested.

I was a junior in high school at the time, and we all saw the second building fall on TV. I visited the World Trade Center in the summer of 2000, and we went to the Observation deck. I don't know what made me do it, but I just took pictures of all the viewpoints. I still have those pictures and it's very sad looking at them today.

It's very nice seeing everyone from both the U.S. and other countries come together and remember 9/11. My prayers go out to those who lost loved ones on that day.

One month to the day prior to the attacks, I had been at the WTC at the exact time frame that the attacks happened. If they had done it on 8/11, I would have been there in all that chaos trying to figure out what the crap was going on. I was a counselor at a summer camp in NY state, and a few of us had gone into the city on a day off to do some shopping and sight-seeing. The WTC was the first place we went to when we got off the ferry from Hoboken. I took a picture of the towers, standing in the courtyard behind them:

How precious this photo is to me now...
I remember waking up that morning to the phone ringing. My mom was crying and screaming "My God, you were just there!" over and over again. I kept saying "What are you talking about?" and she finally said "Just turn it on CNN." So I did and I turned it on just in time to see the first tower fall.... I was in shock, and then when it hit me what was going on I just started crying. My girls I had that summer at the camp lost relatives in the attack on NYC, and I had a distant cousin who was injured in the Pentagon attack. It's such a sad, sad day in history and my thoughts and prayers are always with the victims and their families.
