Buffy Summers is the Slayer, but after being expelled from her old high school for burning down the gym (it was full of vampires) she just wants to forget about her destiny and be a normal sixteen-year-old girl. She and her mother move from L.A. to Sunnydale, California. A new school, new friends, and a chance to start over.

But Sunnydale is on top of a Hellmouth -- a center of mystical convergence that draws evil and demonic forces -- and Buffy soon realizes that she will have to pick up her stakes and holy water in order to save her new friends.

So, we just had a great BBTV session watching this episode. Would anyone like to lead off a discussion?
 
I personally love this episode. It reminds me of when I fell in love with BTVS🙂 I think it's an episode that just sucks you in even on your 100000th watch of it. And it has a young Angel mmmm lol (sw)
 
Loved watching this with you guys. 😀

Rewatching the episode makes you realise how great it is, especially compared to the other episodes in the season. And I had to point out how dark everything was. Not the tone, but the actual lighting. 😛

I thought Nick did such a great job in these earlier seasons, considering how little acting he'd done before. Whereas with David you could notice how much he's improved over the years.

Also, one thing I noticed is how cute everyone is in the first season. Xander with his fringe, and Buffy being a bit bigger. Bigger is better. 😀
 
Well, I really enjoyed my first BBtv session, despite my panic over not being in the right place or starting too early or something! 😀

Like everyone else, I just love this episode. It has so many things in it that I love about the whole show. Xander being goofy, Buffy with some great one liners when she didn't take herself too seriously and Angel being coy and cocky 😉

And I love remembering how scary the vampires were back then. Before we saw any other demons and beasties, Luke and The Master were totally scary.

Can't wait for next week! 😀
 
Buffy Summers: you said that it was nice that there was an homage in the dream to the movie- seeing how it has been awhile since I saw episode one, and awhiler since I saw the movie, I've but one question, in 32 parts (sorry, old Back to School quote) what do you mean?? what was it, etc etc and dont you DARE woman, say watch and and find out!
