I just noticed that amongst the May solicitations for IDW is this:

DAMN YOU IDW!! We have to buy all issues twice just to get the good stuff!?!?
 
Forget about the single issues and just get that one if that one has the stuff you want in it
 
I haven't even been able to get issues three or four, and now they're dangling this bone. Well they can forget it. I'd rather they increase their print runs on the regular issues.
 
I'd love if they did that with the Buffy comic, but I couldn't give a crap about the Angel one, I'm still not convinced it was the best idea to buy the regular and the variant!

I was just thinking that exact same thing.
Well my local comic store has a delivery delay on the shipment so I have to wait another week for comic 4 so hearing of a complete series annoys me!
 
After The Fall is becoming extremely dangerous for me.
I'm currently hunting down each edition of each issue and purchasing them, starting with the Virgin covers.
Book 1 is going to end up costing me over $100 in total.
 
Wow, that's fandom. I only have one issue twice. I accidentally got both RI versions for issue 3. I have no intent of getting all covers on all issues. I do like the extra content they're adding to this Director's Cut... but I'm not sure if it's enough to get the comic again. Then again, it's only 5 bucks. Still, if they're gonna do this with every issue, it's gonna cost me quite a lot of money to get everything. I'm still torn.

Well, Angel is the only vampire I've ever liked or been a fan of, and is pretty much the only 'creature of the night' property I think is even respectable, but it's a collection/investment thing. In 50 years, at some Whedonverse convention, selling all 8(?) editions of ATF #1 in NM/M conditon together would score 1 1/2 years of college tuition, at the very least. Rinse and repeat, you're like Scrooge McDuck, jumping head first into a lake of gold coins. Also, they look better than a savings account with barely a note in it.
 
The Alex Garner cover art. Other than Angel's gothy eyeliner, this is really really good. IDW's pretty sly. Save the good stuff for the collector's edition, "director's cut" versions.

If I knew nothing about Angel, this would be the first cover that would actually compel me to take a look at the comic.
 
I don't think I'll ever be an Urru fan. Maybe he'll evolve a little as this goes forward, like Jeanty.
 
Alex Garner (in my mind) is now the Jo Chen of Angel: After the Fall.

This is highly annoying. I wont be buying anymore Angel comics. It's just the one for me. I will just read about it other places!
 
I think it's a pity that they're doing the director's cut only now. If they'd brought it out the same day as the normal version of issue 1, I would probably have bought the DC version, even if it's a couple bucks more.
 
I've always thought that the "Director's Cut," "Extended Version," "Unrated Version," or whatever on video tapes and DVD's were great just as long as they were the FIRST version made available. Issuing one later just seems like a dirty trick to play on the consumer. Now I guess comics are getting on the band wagon, only with them, it'll be even easier to make, because they don't even have to used previously written material, they can just make something to go with the original story. I think the fans should boycott the whole thing.
 
Why don't you lot like the fact that there's two version? If you don't want to read the writers notes, buy the normal one, if you want the writers notes, lets face it you like Angel enough to buy both, so why complain? =|

I agree..I will buy it for a check..but if they do it for all issues well I'll think of it...
