A different actress...

What if Sarah Michelle Geller had never auditioned for the role of Buffy. What if it had been an alternate actress that stepped in to fill the Slayers shoes for 7 years. This thought occured to me a few nights ago when I was watching some old Buffy episodes. If you could chose a different actress to play Buffy, who would it be? My choice would be the lovely Brittany Murphy. I think she'd be the perfect alternate Buffy. Don't get me wrong, I love Sarah to bits, this topic is just for fun.

Yeah Brittany would have made a great buffy. I think Julia Stiles would have done very well in the role as well.

I like SMG as Buffy. I could inagine it with anyone else!
 
maybe britney spears-lol or amy acker but not brittany murphy she is way too goofy-IMO
 
Britney Spears! no way, I wouldn't have watched it... But did you know when SMG first tried out they wanted her to play Cordelia!? She had to beg to be Buffy. That would've been weird. I like the britney murphy idea btw. Oh, and rene, I love your sig quote!
 
No she didnt beg...I saw Joss talking about Buffy.He said she tried out for Cordy and got the role and they loved it and she got that.but they said she was wonderful, and lets have her read for Buffy and the moment she read for it they knew they found her.I have Buffy ep. Welcome to the hellmouth, harvest, the witch and never kill a boy on the first date on tape and he said it at the beginning of welcome to the hell mouth and thats what he said...
 
Oh... Well, I don't remember where I heard my scenario, so I'll believe Joss over whatever goes on in my head. 🙂 And having Amy as Buffy, that would be weird. I wonder if it would've been as good. I really liked Charisma as Cordelia too.
 
Julie Benz also tried out for Buffy. I'm glad she didnt get it, she's got a weird voice, and Im not being horrible, but I think she was a bit old to play someone in high school!
 
I think if the show was the least bit different, it wouldnt be right...Like with Brittany Murphy as Buffy.Sure it could work, but it wouldnt be the same...Or like...Sarah as Cordelia.That would be weird.I like it how it is.And changing it would just make it.Non Buffy.I dunno.im strange like that...
 
^ Nah, I totally see you're point....I don't think it would be half as good even if the change was slight....many things fell into place to make that show so good....if they had fallen somewhere else, it might not have been quite the same...
 
I thought Jennifer love hewitt when i first read this thread but i don't think they could have chosen neone better for the role of buffy than smg! Also brittany would have been a good choice, but still not as good..... i think smg would have been good at playing cordy as well but i dont think she could have played the role better the C.C!
 
Jennifer Love Hewitt... Absolutely.

Brittany Murphy would have been about 3. She would have made a great Dawn, though.
 
Brittany Murphy's not that much younger than Sarah. She's only about 5 yrs younger or something. So she'd really be like... 13
