If you could replace the First with a different villain to be the Big Bad of S7, what kind of villain would it be?

Spike, or we could've had Buffy stake Spike in ep 08 or 09 and the season would've improved dramatically!

Haha Seriously, though, how balls-y would that have been?

I love Spike-ness in season 7.
Maybe a vampire who was once a slayer that was gathering an army to take down the famous Buffy, essentially making her own evil Scooby gang to take them all down. That or the Watcher's Council is highjacked and the only ones ready enough to face their actions is the Scoobies. Or maybe incorporate Twilight into the - LOL Kidding, couldn't even finish that sentence.

Love the evil Scooby gang idea. :)
I really like Zeppo's idea. But apart from that... It would have been much better if Caleb had been introduced waaay sooner. Nathan Filion is such a funny actor. 😛

It wouldv'e been my favourite season of any show ever. 😛

Mine too! If I had to choose another villain for season 7 I'd say maybe an evil Buffy from an alternate dimension, manages to enter the real Buffy's world and then decides to kill buffy and take over the world, answering the question... Could Buffy beat herself?

Well, they tried upping the ante by making the Big Bad the first of all evil, but made it incorporeal as to even the odds. So perhaps
give Buffy superpowers a la season 8
and just come up with the most powerful villain yet.

I also think the season could've benefited from some hot Spuffy sexcapades.

You mean Spike getting staked right? Puhlease tell me thats what you meant!
The First was lame, and would have been better if it pretended to be Buffy (to the Scoobies)...it would have messed with the Scoobies heads big time. It would have done a lot of damage I reckon.

Caleb was creepy, he made a good Big Bad but If I had to replace The First it would be Buffy going evil.

Buffyheaven agrees: You mean Spike getting staked right? Puhlease tell me thats what you meant!

Well, it INVOLVES a stake. Those two are into some pretty kinky stuff, after all...

Maybe she can slip and stake him in the heart and BOOM goes the most annoying character in the verse!

The Unspoken agrees: But isn't there an amulet out there that brings S&M victims back to (un)life?

god I hope not, like I'd even be happy if it was night time and then WHOA the whole world got turned 180 degrees and was in the sun and he got dusted, just something, please!

I liked the whole First/Caleb arc but thought it was a bit disjointed. The First was billed as something undeniably bad, but it only really taunted people, bit lame really.

The alternate universe idea sounds good too though.

How about this?: Evil Buffy from alternate dimension (maybe the Buffy from the Wishverse) sees the life Buffy has in S7 and becomes jealous of it because it wasn't the life she had. Our Buffy takes Evil Buffy in to help her adjust to life in this reality long enough for them to figure out a way to get her back to her reality. But then Buffy decides she wants to stay in this reality and take Buffy's life for herself. This begins the conflict between Buffy and Evil Buffy which gets even bigger when Buffy's attempts to obtain the life of Buffy fail and she decides to destroy it and Sunnydale instead because in her mind, if she can't have Buffy's life, no one will including Buffy. She uses her own special knowledge of Buffy and her weaknesses, and an evil Scoobie gang to wage war aganist Buffy and her Scoobies. Maybe a romantic triangle forms between Buffy, Spike, and Evil Buffy.

Does Evil Buffy kill Spike?

Seems like a less subtle version of the Faith storyline.
Season 7 Spike was great but I would have loved to see him as the villain. Season 6 ends with the chip removed. Seven is him causing mayhem with Dorksilla and third wheel Harmony tagging along. Drusilla puts some end of the world stuff into action, maybe raising the ubervamp army - and Buffy and co kick all kinds of ass leading to a show down between Buff and Spike.

I'd agree with the poster who said that The First was lame. One of my biggest pet peeves about the show was the lack of vampiric big bads after Season 2. I really liked the idea of a vampiric slayer that someone brought up. As I said in another thread, it would have been fascinating to see what kind of powers or enhancments such a being would have. Would it have the same weaknesses of a normal Vampire? Would the combination make an insanely powerful being?

Buffyheaven: Evil Buffy could kill Spike out of anger if it turns out Spike continues to have feelings for Buffy.

I wouldn't change the villain, but I would change how he was written. He needed to do something other than shapeshift and taunt Spike in the basement. If Season 7 had better writing I think The First would have been a much more effective big bad.
