Ok now i cant remember where i read this,or if i might of imagined it but im pretty sure i read somewhere that Joss wanted to end season 7 a different way.

apparently in the last episode he was going to have it so that Buffy some how ended up being able to have one wish, and at the end of the epsiode Willow was going to ask her what she wished for and Buffy was going to say 'a pair of shoes that she really liked'.Willow was then gona reply by saying 'really'.Then Buffy was gona say 'no dummy' and she would step to the side and Tara would be behind her.
And that's how Joss wanted to end it.
but he couldnt do this ending as Amber benson (Tara) had a conflicting schedule and couldnt make it.

Now like i said i dont know if this is true but i was just wondering if anyone else had read this, and even if it isnt true do you think this would of been a good ending for Buffy?

I've heard that too! I think it would have been a good ending to a show, but not as the VERY final scene. I don't know how they'd work it otherwise, but I think them bringing Tara back from the dead right at the end of the series would have just been too much to do. Although I must admit, the way it's written it sounds like it would be a neat ending to an eppie 🙂

I'm glad it didn't end that way. I don't think Buffy would have wished for Tara, nor do I like Tara enough to watch that ending. Kennedy was a good match for Willow.

I would have loved for Tara, to come back, except that it would kinda defeat the whole purpose of her death, also there would have been to much storyline to cover because she would have to break up with Kennedy. Also it would have had to be very close to the end because they would have have to won the battle, and it would have been such a cheesy ending!

Actually that story didn't concern the end of Season 7. It was more just about bringing Tara back. Here's the way it's described at RestlessBTVS.com.

Joss Whedon spoke at the Wizard World convention in Chicago in August 2004 about his original plans for bringing the character of Tara back:

"In one of the final episodes, the third to last episode, Buffy was going to basically get a "˜get out of jail free' card. One completely reality-altering thing that she could have - she could bring Angel back to her, she could do anything she wanted. At the end of the episode she basically comes to Willow and says "˜Look at these shoes I got!' and Willow's, like, "˜What?' "˜I got these really awesome shoes. I wanted them, and now I have them!' and Willow's like "˜You"¦ used"¦ the wish"¦ for shoes?' and Buffy says "˜Of course not, you idiot,' and walks out of the room and Willow turns around and Tara's standing behind her."

Personally I preferred the idea of bringing her back in Conversations With Dead People -

In Conversations with Dead People, Cassie tells Willow that Tara cannot be there herself because of Willow's destructive behaviour following her death. The original script had Tara coming to her girlfriend but Amber Benson (who played Tara) didn't want to appear. She felt her character was so loved by herself and Buffy fans that it would be a shame to spoil her by making her evil.
The original script for the episode shows what form the Willow/Tara scenes would have taken:

Tara: "I'm sorry to wake you."
Willow: "Ha"¦"
Tara: "Ha - what?"
Willow: "Is that like a dream joke thing? You're sorry to wake me, but I'm clearly not awake and if I was awake and you really were here, would you be sorry to wake me? I mean, after all this time and - oh God, I'm babbling. I'm dream babbling and it's the best dream of my life and I'm wasting it and-"
Tara:"I just meant, I liked watching you sleep."

yea see i didnt know how they would work it into the episode either but i think it would of been a nice episode to do because the character has a lot of fans.

thankyou nerd4hire i wasnt sure if i was exactly right on the details of it but i thought i had the main jist (spelling) of it.yea i also heard about her not wanting to come back in the episode 'conversations with dead people' aswell,i guess she didnt want to ruin what her fans thought of the character by her being evil in it.

This is a great discussion topic. I think it would have been so wonderful for Tara and Willow to be reunited. I got goose bumps when reading that little quote up there, I could actually picture it and it felt real. I dont like Kennedy for Willow, she is very bossy, and Willow doesn't need that, she needs an equal, and Tara was just that. I would not have wanted it at the very end either, maybe a few epis before, like Joss may have wanted it, and def before the Willow/Kennedy love scene. It was an absolute joy to have Tara (the character) on the show, and loosing her SUCKED! And how sweet of Buffy to ask for that one thing, that wasnt even for her.....jee, I am acting as if it happened, haha,...well you get my drift.

Hey, do you remember that bit in CWDP where it's revealed Cassie is the first, then her mouth turns inside out, and she kind of eats herself? Can you imagine if that was Tara?

As much as I'd have loved Tara to come back, in the end it was better she didn't. Firstly I'm glad she didn't come back as The First as it suggests to me that her love for Willow was so pure and strong that evil itself could not use it to manipulate the living (I also believe this is why Joyce isn't seen - I don't believe it was The First talking to Dawn in Conversations With Dead People). Secondly, I'm glad she didn't come back to life as Willow needed to move on - the return of Tara would probably stir such immense emotions in her that there'd be no controlling her magic. And also, there just needed to be another permanent death after Buffy got brought back, to make it more realistic (and brutal).

I don't believe it. Everyone dying from natural cause in BTVS didn't return from death in Buffyverse. Wishing didn't bring back people. And why would Buffy wish Tara return from death? She would have wished her mother to return if she had the chance.

I've heard that too but soon I knew that it was just a rumor according to a site i was surfing but it woul have been cool if she got back at least THEN Willow would leave boring Kennedy

If this ever existed, it certainly wouldn't have been the ending of the season. The thing Joss was going for in the ep was having every last moment iconic of what that character or idea represents - i.e. Willow controlling her power, Buffy being alone (but then not), Xander holding them together with jokes etc. Ending on Tara wouldn't have exactly sucked (as I love her), but it certainly doesn't make sense. It should be Buffy.

As a Tara MUCHO fan, i have to say as an end, it would have honestly been weak. Now, the story presented is, to my mind, perfect and heartwarming, BUT as much as i loathe Kennedy, i also feel its better Tara didn't resurface, as it would have sent the wrong message home. I mean without Kennedy, Willow would have spent all of season 7 in mourning, and as much as it pains me to say, Kennedy did bring her out of that 'funk' allowing for the story to progress. IF it hadn't been the last season, i would have been ok for Willow to act depressed and lonely, but this season was too busy already for much more focus on that. And then, you also have the added effect of giving the viewer that you mourn long enough you will be given the reward of the one you loved, so as much as a HUGE part of me thinks this was an awesome idea, i have to say, i'm glad Amber was too busy.

How can you not believe it, when N4H has given a source where Joss had said that was his idea? And She wouldn't necessarily wish her mom back, she saw the horrible time Willow had after Tara died, She would want to do something to help her friend!

yea i was a bit shocked when i read she wasnt going to bring her mum back but as B.E.G said Willow had a way harder time with Tara's death than Buffy did with her mums death,i mean Buffy didnt nearly destroy the world and hurt all of her friends.i think making that wish for Willow would of been one of the nicest,if not the nicest thing she would have ever done.

Whether it was from a wish or whatever, somehow I can't see Tara popping up at the end.
But I can see why Buffy would want to do this. Her mom died from natural causes and it was always a possibilty she would die.
But with Tara's death, Warren didn't state he would kill her two months earlier and it was not only sudden but a total "lucky" (or unlucky) shot that did it.
Buffy learned to live with it, but Willow couldn't deal with the sudden nature of Tara's death.

Anyway, back to the original post:
Yeah, Tara's arrival would not make sense, but it would be nice.
Besides, a Willow-Tara-Kennedy relationship would have been like...:confused1

The major difference was there was no "villain" behind Joyce's death. A lot of "The Body" was about Buffy wishing she had something to fight, something to avenge her mother's death to make herself feel better. If someone had killed Joyce, I think Buffy might have gone a bit loopy (but not as much as Will, as she hasn't got the controlling magic pumpin' through her).

Personally, I would have loved Tara to come back, especially like that. It sounds like a wonderful idea, and a fitting final scene.
