My apologies for making my first post at this board a long one (and in some ways a little late)...but I was hoping to get the other members of the Whedonesque to take in what I am thinking

**also I think this is an ok spot for this thread, if not...please move, but dont bury, I'd like some input 🙂

Well ok so I re watched season 5 of Angel (best season by far) and I wanted to pose a couple of questions to the Angel schmoes out there. (Sort of SPOILERS)

1-If you were wesley how would you deal with the Illyria problem?

2-Are Illyria and Fred kinda the same person?

My thoughts:

1-considering Wesley is human and the frailty that is our emotional states, I dont blame him for the way he acted, in some small way he might of grown to accept the fact that even though fred was gone, she was also there....which brings me to...

2-Yes they kinda are....why? electrical spasms from fred's brain transferred over to Illyria's and in doing so bestowed Illyria with a good chunk of fred's memories, why do I say good chunk?

a)well she still had fred's last words in her mind (which she gave the example of to wes),

b)she knew that fred loved wes, so that pushes the memory back to at least S5 episodes 10-14ish,

c)she knew that fred's memory had been altered (at least in places, as she so mentioned) so she knew back to the time of at least the Jasmine conflict (due to the memory alteration),

d)and finally thanks to wes crushing that ''window'' in episode 18, fred's memory was restored inside Illyria's mind, how you say? she mentioned events pertaining to wes kidnapping connor, which was back in season 3ish (if Im not mistaken)

**I know its a lot to take in, but I felt puzzled by the whole wes/fred/illyria triangle (if it really can be classified that way) and this is how I interpret it, have fun reading my theories

While I agree with you on the first point I disagree with your second.

I do not think that Fred and Illyria were the same person. Illyria was not Fred, but she had knowledge of her. It would be like someone inplanting their memories in your head. You are still yourself, but have the knowledge and memories of the other. Anyways when I think of some more stuff I'll post again.

I think a metaphor may help Beer Nut.

You have a coke bottle, you empty out all the coke inside it and fill it with water. It is no longer coke but rather water. It may have traces of the coke that resided before but it is not still coke.

Best metaphor I could think of.

Better than any I could think of to fit what I was trying to say...lol. Thanks!

well I just come to my conlcusions based on episodes 18 and 20.....I mean I think Illyria did a bang up job on Fred's parents....so much it sickened Wes even further.....but its all good, thanks for the input!

more is welcome 🙂
