I know that most of us feel devastated after the election. And the past few days, what with the rise in racist attacks and protests. I've got one advice for you guys; even if it's difficult, try to be happy. Find things to be passionate about. Be it writing, music, painting etc. Be kind to the people around you, your Muslim friends, black friends, white friends, LGBTQ friends, whatever. Don't let people tell you otherwise. Because as of now, I think it's more important to show kindness to your fellow man.

Peace out!

Just for the record, most people around me have been civil, even those upset or joyous about the election. That includes with people who voted for Trump who knew I voted for Clinton (though so far none of us have joined a personality cult the way some apparently have). One guy who voted Trump has in his past actually stood up in defense of a racial minority and though he was threatened with violence he did not back down, and he's still the same person who'd do that today, and he once played a drinking game that essentially mocked FOX News (though he doesn't trust any of the news providers, which is probably wise). It's only on the internet and the news that it looks like America is coming apart by the seams with some treating Trump as the messiah and others as the anti-christ.

I'm thinking the news is trolling us because that gets clicks (and thus makes their advertisement space sell for more), and plenty of people just become total trolls when they feel they can get away with it (sometimes it's more for the laugh than just being an obnoxious fanatic, though it's hard to tell the difference between them). And while I've never regretted not getting on social media or twitter, I'm downright grateful that I have nothing to do with those cesspools now. All in all, I found interacting with real life people than the ones on the internet, including when talking politics, was a great cure to the insanity online and on the news.

I've made it a point to avoid news and entertainment programs, since the media seems to be hell-bent on convincing us the world is ending.

And you are absolutely correct about the online madness. I removed my Twitter & Instagram apps for now...it is complete bedlam there. Such silliness!

As most folks here are no doubt aware by now, I voted for Donald Trump, not because I thought that he was the best choice for President, but because I honestly felt that he was a better choice than Hillary Clinton, and, apparently, enough people in enough states felt the same way, which resulted in his getting the majority of the Electoral votes. But here s one inescapable fact. Clinton's supporters totally underestimated Donald Trump, and his ability to attract a following. They got complacent, too many of them were, apparently, either too busy, or too lazy, to bother to get out and vote. The result is, because of their own complacence, their candidate lost the election. They should see this as the learning experience that it should be, and plan to do better in 4 years. More than that, there's a mid term election in 2 years, which will give them the opportunity to displace enough Republicans in Congress to block quite a bit of what they fear Trump will do. Protests and riots are only hurting their cause and wasting their time. They would be far wiser to begin their strategy for 2018 right now.
