I'm sorry but I just wanted to share my joy with you all.

I'm a big Giles fan (as my username might indicate) and I've just re-watched the season 4 episode 'A New Man', where Giles gets turned into a demon by that recurring bad penny Ethan Rayne.

It honestly is one of the funniest episodes I think I've ever seen. Season 4 seems to come in for some bashing because of the initiative and Adam (justifiably so, Adam is the worst big bad EVER) but this is another example of a season 4 standalone that is great fun.

My favourite bit? Where Demony Giles bumps into Spike in the cemetary (who is, bizarrely, measuring up a tombstone with a tape)...and Giles realises Spike can understand him.

Demony Giles: "I could pay you money"
Spike: "Oh - I like money. How much?"
Demony Giles: "a hundred dollars"
Spike: "You'll have to do a lot better than that."
Spike: "Two hundred."
Demony Giles: "fine."

I'd be interested to know if you guys like this episode as much as me - I know it doesn't add that much to the story arc but, for my money, it's priceless Buffy.

Ripper 🙂

I love when he chases Maggie down the street!
That was true Giles!
Also, I think its funny when Giles and Ethan are drunk, ASH is soo good at drunk Giles. I love when he says to Ethan that Maggies an 'awful fish wife!' lol! That was sooo funny 😉

I love this episode! Anything Giles-centric is always good! 🙂 I love when he wakes up and realizes he's a demon and then starts accidentally trashing his apartment! LOL

yeah this eppy is great! i love the eps that have giles or xander at the center of attetion! it's some great fun!

loved the quote Ripper! thanx 😉

I just watched that epp last night. It was so hilarious. I LMAO! I though it really funny when Giles was speaking and we understood him, so we as viewers assume he is speaking English. When he goes to Xander to wake him and Xander looks over and Giles is speaking in that demon language....Xander's reaction was so insanely funny!!!! The part where he gets outta the car and chases Maggie, that was classic too. I agree with you Ripper, one of the best yet!

Yea that was like hell funny episode, They were all like sad and like lost without him always being in charge,
hats kinda what buffy needed to be able to take care of dawn and all in the next season
and it was good to have A Giles-centric one, causde we hardly have one of them!

Giles: I refuse to become a monster because I look like a monster. I have a soul. I have a conscience. I am a human being. Oh, stop the car!

The Citroen pulls to a stop at the corner of Main Street and we see that Professor Walsh has just crossed the street. Giles hops out of the car, without his blanket, and creeps up behind her. When he's close enough he roars and waves his claws in the air. Walsh looks over her shoulder and screams like a woman and runs for her life as Giles chases her down the street, pass the Espresso Pump. He stops halfway down the street but Walsh continues to flee. Giles hurries back to the car ignoring the gaping stares of a few pedestrians.

Giles: (closing the door) Right. Let's go, then.

I love Giles! I always have, he's bloody brilliant! And this episode with him was great.

Yea, that part too along with this part:

Cut to Giles outside in broad daylight, running across a lawn.
Children are playing and Giles is stepping on their toys scattered on the grass. Kids are frightened and a mother is reaching for her child.

Giles: (panicked) Oh, God. I'm sorry!
Mother: (grabbing her child) Call 911!
Giles: (running away) Bloody humans!

yea he was and i liked how he trashed the house and all, and then buffy thought the demon had aten him and then after she was like "noone can ever looked as annoyed at me as you"

I wish there had been more Giles centric episodes, I'm glad they decided to have such fun with him on season 4.

Yea, I owuld have liked to see a few more Giles-centric episodes! he was great in this episode. I loved when he chased Maggie Walsh down the street.
