A new spin-off

As you all know, there is some talk about a spike telemovie spinoff thinggy, and I was just wondering your opinion on it. Do you think it'll play right or do you think it'll go down the pooper?

Personally, Spike wouldn't be one of my main choices for a telemovie. I'd rather see a Willow movie or maybe an Illyria movie. But if it is the last option, then I'll take it!

What are your views on this? Who would you rather see?

Ps) I wasn't sure where to post this, so I'm sorry if it is in the wrong place!

Spike would be the last person I'd care to see a spin off but I know he is very popular so he would be the best choice. I think it would be great if Joss Whedon is involved. He's said he wouldn't be involved with the Spike movie but he might change his mind.
I want to see a Faith spinoff or Illyria.

I think Whedon said he wouldn't direct or write a Spike movie, but I'm sure he'd be involved in some capacity. While Whedon is of course a brilliant writer and director, there have been plenty of awesome Angel episodes that he neither wrote nor directed. The project would be safe in Tim Minear, David Greenwalt, or Steven S. Deknight's hands.

I think that a spin-off would be great.

I'm having a hard time deciding though on what would be the best one. If I could get my wish, it would involve all the characters... but how often do our wishes come true?

I think that a Spike and Illyria spin off would be neat. You know, two completely misunderstood characters fighting evil together. That would be really interesting.

I'm not sure that I would like a Faith spin-off. It's kinda just a repeat of BtVS and it makes me wonder if it would really do justice.

A Willow spin-off would probably be my next vote. She's the next character with a lot of layers that could be analyzed and portrayed.

Well, if they go through with this spin off tele movie, it couldn't be just Spike. He'd need to have good supporting and familliar faces. Perfect for that would be Illyria and Andrew.

Yea I agree with the either Willow or Illyria spin-off... I've yet to see all of the Illyria episodes, but from what I've seen, a spin-off would be cool.

I always thought, something with the Potentials might be cool. Getting into the whole "they're everywhere" thing... Might have been interresting... Meh

I think a Spike and Illyria movie would be interesting. Illyria's so weird, otherworldly that she needs a foil, a "normal" person to react against. Not to mention a guide for this world.

The thing about the 'verse is, it's always been a co-op. Buffy, though she was the Slayer, always had her Scoobs. And Angel was solo for about half an episode, then his team started to materialize. That's what I love about the 'verse, the team interaction.

If Spike were truly a solo act, it would be something new, different. If it were a series, would he be a wandering crimefighter, going from town to town? Sounds like the old Incredible Hulk show. The novelty might be good, interesting. But I'd want to see all the Angelverse leftovers hanging around: Connor, Gwen, Illyria, plus Faith, other Scoobs...that's a lot of characters for a telemovie, I know. I guess if they actually follow through on this, some of those folks will show up. Maybe Drusilla will come back to haunt him.

If Tru Calling didn't get any more ep's, I'm sure Eliza would come back as Faith, and I personally thought they complemented each other well, what with being reformed and all.

In a way i'd love to see anything new from Buffy or Angelverse, but then again that time has past. Especially the BtVS series and to some extent Angel, was a masterpiece and is better left undisturbed. It still lives on the net and in people's minds and in a way that would be destroyed if we got a new spinn-off or movie. Don't get me wrong if there was a series or movie I'd be the first one to watch it, but that logical side of me kinda wishes we won't get one.

I'm a bit with JollyApe on this one. Even though I would love to see a spin off, especially in the form of a oneshot TV-movie, parts of me can't get over the thought that we should just let sleeping dogs lie.

A Ripper-movie, on the other hand... 🙂
