A new Stars Wars Trilogy

It wasn't the payoff as much as the set-up that was cool. I remember the audience bristling w/ anticipation when Yoda appears, lone gunman/samurai/whatever style on the scene, expectant for battle. THAT was cool. Again, Lucas can take a perfectly delicious premise and destroy it w/ his technological tinkering --- er, though I doubt that seeing an animatronic puppet bounce around would have been any more impressive.

LOL --- Well, I'm either brainwashed or overzealous! LOTR is one of my all-time favorite films . . . and I'm rapidly becoming one of the few who feels that way. I, for one, didn't care that it was entirely "true" to the book, though if they had made the movies that way they would have been rotten, dull, wastes of celluloid.
And comparing the two is difficult, though I'll say that Star Wars is more fantasy than sci-fi any day, and thus at least a distant cousin to LOTR.
 
I haven't seen the extended versions for the final two installments, but after being wholly unimpressed with The Fellowship.. , I watched the extended version and it was a lot better. If the other extended versions improve the theatrical versions to teh same degree, my opinion of the trilogy will be far better, but nevertheless, I still won't think it's deserving of the 'BEST FILM EVER' praises people are lavishing upon it.

I don't think I could ever name the BEST FILM EVER, anyway, but if I had to it would be "Mary Poppins." :tongue05:

Anywaaaaaaaaaay, when push comes to shove, I'll probably be at Eps 3 and 7, 8, and 9---should there be any--- on the first day, hoping that by some miraculous fluke I'll be "transported" a la "the good ol' days" of Star Wars to a Force-induced euphoria. A woman scantily glad in a gold bikini wouldn't hurt, either . . . :vpleased:
 
Well, I will be going to see them all... not on the first day however. Star Wars will always be something you have to see at the cinema (at least if you're a real film buff) because it's an 'event' and a talking point... plus, big blockbusters just aren't as good at home, irrespective of how good your home cinema set up is.
 
I very much doubt 7,8,9 will be a film version and if it does.....who cares. You can appreciate the Star Wars legacy for much more than a money making empire. I loved Ep 2 and anyone who didn't like it aparently didn't notice Yoda kicking ASS...the most awesomest part EVAR! : riker : hehe :lsvader:
 
I don't know. I liked ep1 and ep2 strictly on a story basis. Scene to scene dialogue has never been one of George's strong suits. If the next trilogy followed the Timothy Zahn books, I would be there. Hell, I would still be there even if it didn't. I just love the star-wars saga.

I don't have a problem with the CG. The things that George wants to show on screen just can't be achieved without CG. Remember Yoda from EP1. He was still a puppet then, and he looked terrible. In episode 2 he looked awesome. The way he moved, and more importantly, the range of emotions that he had gained.
 
episode 1 and 2 were just covered in CGI it was really annoying. the acting wasn't great. but the yoad fight scene was absolutely lol. the best moment of 2002
 
I guess the major reason why people don't like the new SW films is because they are going in expecting them to be something that they are not. Ep1 was preceeded by the Matrix which had come out a month or two before. The Matrix was dark, gritty, and well-written. It was an action and effects masterpiece(unlike the crappy two matrix's to follow). Star-Wars was never that. The original trilogy was campy, stoopid at times, and not very dark. It has always had terrible dialogue, but a great storyline. People were expecting the new starwars to be as dark, and gritty as the matrix...but then it wouldn't be star-wars. I hate Jar-Jar, I hate the dialogue, and I hate a lot of elements to the new star-wars films. But I love both those movies.

I have really never understood people's hatred for CG. It just doesn't make sense to me. I watch the original trilogy, and every creature you see looks like a piece of Rubber. That's what I don't understand. Would you rather see a peice of rubber on a stick that looks like a piece of rubber, or would you rather see a creature with full range of emotions. What is it about CG that turns so many people off? Do people think it's too easy or something? Do they think it's some kind of cop-out? Why do people hate CG so much?
 
I am sorry to say that they will make the biggest mistake ever if they make another trilogy but thats my opinion.myself I really don't like the prequels parts of it I do.the 3rd one is probably gonna be pretty good but we already know whats gonna happen.I love Star Wars but I love the originals.so my opinion they really should not make episodes 7,8 & 9.
