A Philadelphia Story

Now for the vacation thread that literally no one asked for 😳

Day one - the adventure begins...

Our first flight was delayed for about an hour. When we finally boarded...

Think our plane is anorexic! 😲

When we landed in Charlotte, we found that we missed our connecting flight to Philly.
So we're booked on 8:50pm flight, but on standby for earlier flight. We and few other people got on the plane only to be booted few minutes later!
We nabbed dinner and then learned that our 8:50 was delayed till 11:00. Finally landed after midnite! 😖

Day two - Declaration of tourist moments...

We first visited Independence Hall & The Liberty Bell...

We stumbled upon 'Chinatown'...

Didn't even know they had an Asian district! Walked past at least 9 different places we could've eaten at.
There were Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Malaysian, Korean, Mongolian, Vietnamese & Indian restaurants! 🤗
We finally decided on a little corner Chinese place. Had one of better Gen Tso's chicken.
Walked block over to try rolled ice cream since neither of us had ever had that before. Was delicious! 🥰
Since I convinced my GF we didn't need to rent a car, our 'dogs were tired' by then.
So we took in a movie at nearby 'fashion district' which had an AMC theater. BTW - Black Adam is disappointing
We then walked back to hotel/airnb hybrid and ordered in Geno's cheesesteaks (sadly also kind of disappointing).

Is the airport from which you disembarked an international airport? Spanky's flights have been anything but anorexic. He'd love an anorexic flight.

Day 3 - Live from Philly it's Wednesday Nite! 😀

We spent most the morning just roaming round the neighborhood. Ended up at Reading Terminal Market.
We wandered around before nabbing lunch at one of the places inside. Wound up back in Chinatown.
Had another rolled ice cream - yum! 😘 Seen this while wandering...

We were running behind and were late getting to the show. Ended up in literal back of club for concert. 😒

Was still the best concert ever! 💜 MISA is still a goddess even from 150 feet away! 😍
We stopped in for a cheesesteak from a place along the way back from concert. Was much better this time!

Day Four - a day at the museums...

Since the Museum of Art wasn't open on Tue. or Wed. we decided that Thu. would be 'museum day'. 😉
We actually did take bus this time. First up: Philadelphia Museum of Art...

Next up we walked 20 minutes to The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University (museum)...

There were 2 very nice guys working in fossil prep lab. They told us about another nearby museum.
So off we went to our third museum of the day - Drexel History Museum...

After showering, was time to go out again...

Oldest tavern in Philly!

Had seen this old Irish pub whilst wandering round town. Found out it was oldest tavern in Philly!
Just had to go there first! Had a drink. Was super busy. So we ended up eating dinner at this little mexican place instead.
Seen this ice cream place (Van Leeuwen) still open a block a way. Walked in to find like 5 girls my height or taller!
They're part of local volleyball team. I was like 'My peeps!' (I'd had 2 drinks by then). 😉
Good ice cream. Went to a few more places. Me & GF danced, flirted and had fun before heading back to hotel*

Day five - the return of the tourists...

We checked out of our 'hotel' and caught an uber to the airport. We hung out and hoped for a delay free journey home.
Boarded the plane on time, and were waiting on the tarmac...about 20 minutes later pilot tells us that we're delayed by visiting VIP. 😫
Finally took off and arrived with literally 15 minutes to catch our next flight. Looked up at sign which said was 15 minute walk to our gate! 😧
We hustled our way thru the airport and made it with 3 minutes to spare! Boarded and took off without further incident.
We then walked our way to exit and to GF's car. She took me home where I pretty much collapsed on my couch. 😳

Thanks for sharing! It does have some pretty particular architecture. And LOL at the phone being an old artifact hahah. The plane travel sounds a nightmare!
